Replying To neverright:  "Fermanagh have lost a big number of players, through retirement, injury and travel, and have only three home games so it is difficult to see them pushing for a promotion spot. I have a soft spot for Fermanagh but I think that even Pete''s skillful management won't be enough."
Lost 5 players.
Marty O'Brien and Richie are the only 2 that would be massive losses. Marty is a great player and Richie while not blessed with natural skill was great at doing dirty work.
The other 3 are Kelly, Cassidy and Conal Jones. Kelly played a bit but not a lot last year, Cassidy didn't play from getting sent off against Galway on Easter Sunday and Jones didn't play from the first round of the league. In essence we have lost two players but have been strengthened with the return of Daryl Keenan and Lee Cullen.

Given how experimental the Meath squad is at the minute I really don't see it as the managements priority.

They're eyeing a Leinster final, very achievable with their draw. Could easily see them crop up in an AI qf after disappointment in the league.

true..

A good/bad league doesn't determine your season.

Oh yeah completely agree, would you rather have been a Clare fan or Cavan fan last year?

As a fan personally I'd prefer to have had Clare's year.

Clare's without question. Also Tipperary.

In the last few years I've noticed on these forums around the league most Rossie supporters have developed a severe dislike for Meath football, I wonder have any of the other Meath posters noticed it? Not really sure what started it probably because we were battling it out in division 2 for a while, or maybe because McStay is in charge of Roscommon.

Meath have very narrowly missed out on promotion the last few years so I'd put them in the reckoning along with Galway & Cork. The latter two will be very strong who I'd imagine would be favorites for promotion.

I'd go with Clare and Down for relegation, but very hard one to call I think it'll be a great league this year.

Think promotion is a priority over next two years, going nowhere unless we start playing top teams on regular basis, agree team is a bit expermental so may have to wait a year

One of the main reasons would be posters like RD and the S#### he used write about us before and Ill feeling between posters of each county. Don't no where his dislike of us came from. Then the puke Meath posters wrote after we went up ahead of Meath in 2015 there was a lot of distasteful post by Meath poster especially after we exited the championship. Colm O'Rourkes article in the paper in 2015 too basically claiming Meath were better than Roscommon and we played negitive football dispite been top scorers in the league at the time. Think the I'll feeling came from the Meath side first to be honest

I'll quote Andy McEntee. "my priority is to get promotion to div 1, that's where you have to be to be at business end come championship, it will not be easy but I am confident we can achieve promotion".
So pardon me for reiterating our brilliant new managers own words, I have faith in Andy, even if the mod apologists dont (ahh sure he was a passionate Meath man)
If its not achieved then so be it, but I ain't going to bloody right us off before a ball is kicked. Especially when we finished 3rd out of past 3 years despite the obvious problem!!! . You too bloody right I have faith in a qualified decent manager. And until it is mathematically impossible I will have faith .

So its me and colm O'Rourke?? Lol.
To answer original question it stems from the all ire semi final in 90s do you not remember the rossies on the hill b Kildare jumping up and down in the rain?
Now myself I have great craic with the likes of otbar, he not only can give it out but is good at taking it. All light hearted banter that some id say younger rossies cant take. The permanently offended generation.
But know its me and Colm O'Rourke fault. Hilarious stuff altogether

Did I say that was the only reason? I was answering a question by a poster who related to I'll feeling in the last few years not back in the 90s look at his post again. I have zero problem with you or Meath in general I was just stating some the muck you have came out with in recent times don't help relations

I would suggest you tea back you're own post, the first six lines were entirely directed at me. And what I have wrote, now obviously all this was my own accord and was answering to any posters.
The ill feeling from Roscommon supporters (some not all) stems from the 90s

I hope Meath go up and Derry dont. Will be easier on my ears in 2018.

Anytime you are in the same division as them, or up against them or they are mentioned in the footnote of a story about another county unrelated to them they seem to just decide to take over the entire conversation one way or the other. We should all chip in and get them a forum on their own county page because they must not have one.

P.S Meath won things before. Yes we are Meath. Meath Meath Meath. MEATH WILL RISE AGAIN............Meath

Theres a high proportion of Meath fans on this site. The county forum is the busiest on Hogan Stand so stands to reason theres a lot of Meath opinions.
Good to see your taking it in a mature manner and not rattled by it though.

MapleDoire just encase you weren't aware Hoganstand.com is a Meath based website and as we all like to support our own (some posters may even work for the publication group) it stands to reason that many Meath supporters would use and comment on it. Then its also natural to comment on what you know, Meath people know about Meath Gaa, Derry people know about Derry Gaa. Its great to see a local company doing well and continued success to all at the Hoganstand / Lynn publications

You are aware that Hoganstand is based in Meath? And sponsors our senior club championship. It makes perfect sense that majority of posters etc are from Meath and would discuss things relating to Meath. The busiest county forum is meaths own pages, . But like was said good of you for taking it so grown up like.

Would have to fancy Meath to go up with 4 home games and Clare not being one of them (no offence to Clare who have a tough draw). Who joins them, the Galway v Cork game first up could have a big say on that. Dark horses could be Fermanagh
