Both sides can play a lot better, the question is will they. Mayo good in the second quarter, but spluttered through the rest. Rossies showed a lot of resilience to hang in when my own county couldn't find the killer blow. Not sure what Kerry would have done with either, as both achieved greater intensity, even if it lacked precision, than two sides in the first game. Another break now for the Kingdom, but no rest for the wicked. Pericles (Mayo) - Posts: 2521 - 30/07/2017 20:09:35 2026168 Link 0 |

Mayo never throw in the towel or give up....we supporters can't really ask for more. I believe we will win the replay

I believe you're right, I think Roscommon missed the boat, Mayo are surviving this championship by the skin of their teeth, could there be something in this?

Hard to say...we could bomb out of win it? Until Mayo actually cross the line doubts will remain but they will win or die out there together and as I say we can't ask for more from ameteur players. Roscommon played very well, they have a makings of a great team there. Even if some of their supporters annoyed me with their abuse towards Andy Moran. No place for it in the GAA yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11231 - 30/07/2017 21:26:16 2026221 Link 0 |

Enjoyable game but lets face facts, neither of these teams will lay a glove on Kerry. MuckrossHead (Donegal) - Posts: 5028 - 30/07/2017 21:34:33 2026230 Link 2 |
Roscommon had great hunger; some excellent play. Thought overall they were slightly the better team. It'd be great for football if they went through. essmac (Tyrone) - Posts: 1141 - 30/07/2017 21:39:30 2026239 Link 4 |

So it'll be another final appearance for Kerry jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20600 - 30/07/2017 22:35:31 2026276 Link 0 |
Very poor from Mayo again today on the pitch and on the line. Doesn't say much for the Rossies either. Mayo look like a team ready to be put out of it's misery. Cafferkey so far out of his depth this year it isn't even funny anymore. Dublin and Kerry streets ahead at the moment. TheFlaker (Mayo) - Posts: 7896 - 30/07/2017 22:50:20 2026287 Link 0 |

Awful game today in terms of the standard of shooting and general forward play, it was Division 2 or Division 3 stuff at times. Dubfire (Dublin) - Posts: 9 - 30/07/2017 22:59:32 2026295 Link 1 |
It was poor standard despite the excitement. A Kerry man I met was laughing at the end. He might be right but sure if we can't hope what's the point? Brolly and co talks about respect in the game yet dismiss the Connacht teams...if it's only about the champions what the hell are we all doing? Btw yew_tree was home in 3 hours...a record ? ;) yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11231 - 30/07/2017 23:13:53 2026300 Link 0 |

I have only 3 words to say about the Mayo performance today 'God help us! riverboys (Mayo) - Posts: 1389 - 30/07/2017 23:48:20 2026321 Link 0 |
Roscommon played some lovely stuff and I thought they were the better side throughout. They are very good footballers with great handling skills and their movement is excellent at times. Whether they win the win the replay or not the future of Roscommon football looks very, very healthy. OK it wasn't Brazil 1970 today but a very enjoyable game all the same. Spillane was a bit unfair in his negative comments. Ulsterman (Antrim) - Posts: 9702 - 31/07/2017 00:28:44 2026341 Link 0 |
I think the Sunday game pundits were very hard on Roscommon. It was their first quarter final in awhile and they rattled Mayo who are far more experienced team than them. Killarney.87 (Tipperary) - Posts: 2513 - 31/07/2017 02:34:38 2026356 Link 1 |
