Rap on the knuckles for Donaghy?

The former Footballer of the Year has been left on the bench for Sunday's Munster SFC opener against Tipperary in Thurles, having started every Kerry game since the 2009 All-Ireland final.

According to The Examiner, the Austin Stacks clubman irked management by attending last weekend's Champions League final in Munich against their wishes.

To make matters worse, the big Chelsea fan also turned up late for a trial game the previous day.

I don't buy that at all Jimbo, the man has been poor since 08, living off 2 good years in 06 and 07. He needs a kick in the backside. Kerry's forward line is more mobile and fluid as we saw in 09 once we hit Croker. Now he could be a great impact sub alright but it doesn't surprise me that he's been dropped.

True, it is a strange one, however, surely the man is entitled to do what he likes with his spare time? The trial game was the night before, fair enough if he was late or whatever, but it wouldn't make sense for Jack to ask him not to travel to the Champions League Final.

Someone should stand guard at Deans place just in case any 'Tapper Uppers' come along with a big blank cheque. Will someone please think of the Children, the Minors, the Under 21's....! :)

Would not be a fan of the Star's personality on the pitch but there is no doubting his ability, would he not be better suited in Midfield for yis?

I thought with this new square ball rule that he would be all the rage down in those parts!

He doesn't have the engine/mobility for midfield Bluedubstar, he tends to slow play down out the field too, and our midfield pairing is set now anyway. I don't like his antics on the pitch either, I'd prefer him to be used as an impact sub, would be a useful weapon on the bench I think.

Truth of the matter lads and call a spade a spade here he is living off past glories and the majority of managers and full backs have the measure of him now, that is even happening here at club level not to mention intercounty. He still has and will have a serious input this year and will play some part next Sunday. He will rotate between Full Forward and wing forward depending on the course of games are going. He just needs a shake up. It proves too that Jack is "the man" and all will abide by his rules if you have any notion of getting game time with the green and gold. No one man is bigger than Kerry Football and there is no such thing as Player power down here. Hopefull he will come back the better of it

Jimbodub stop been so pedantic, soccer/football call it what you like even if football is its correct name, if you're going to be like that maybe we should start calling Gaelic Football handball as that's basically what it is? Either way I find it pathetic the stance been taken by Kerry, Donaghy is an amateur sportsman who has given up the best years of his life to play for his county, so before the Championship starts (not in the middle of it) he is given a once in a lifetime opportunity to attend one of the biggest sporting games on the planet, and this is how Kerry treat him, pathetic really? Donaghy should give them the two fingers, walk off the panel, and wait for Kerry to come crawling back to him when they are starting out in the qualifiers.

This will never happen as discipline is the key to success in sport
