Venue decided by the toss of a coin.

Great to see the GAA are living up to the amature tag with this 19th century technique of deciding home advantage.

well all sports use it to decide what way teams play so dont see how it can be classed as backwards as you seem whinging about
to decide a venue when teams have equal home or away matches played already what do you want them to do?
fire up a computer and let it decide randomly
which is the same thing at the end of the day

strange thread to start up when you have no alternative in your opening post
toss of a coin is logical if anything
I reckon in the case of dublin and limerick
a double header with the football on saturday would be ideal for all
as im sure limerick would like to play a match in croke park at this time of year
and dublin need to learn how to play the same type of game they implement in the tight confides of parnell
and transfer to the main stage in croker

For Dublin its the right thing to do, at least we have a fifty fifty chance of a home venue. If it went to a neutral ground it would more than likely be Thurles, which would suite Limerick more.

The coin toss seems to work extremely well for Dublin footballers...ye haven't played a championship outside of Croke Park since 1932..

Ah Wayno it's the league for crying out loud. It doesn't matter how they decide who plays at home. Never mind winning, does anyone actually care where they play?

Where did you get that info from? I'm pretty sure I was at a Dublin championship game v Kildare in Kildare in the late 80s or early 90s. It was pretty forgettable apart from seeing Mary Harney at it. I saw Prionsias deRossa on the way out too.

The very least then can do is go best out of 3.....this 1-toss result does not give anybody a chance to get settled into the game.

I know! It was like our previous meeting last August, one team hammering the other and Cork fans leaving early....there were some differences too I suppose!

Very true!

There also needs to be some sort of qualifier system brought in for the team that loses the coin toss. ;)

Have they thought about the coin breaking, landing on its side, becoming lost, its an absolute minefield.

They should play the first half at one venue and the second half at the other venue. If it finishes level and goes to extra time, they should go back to the first venue for the first period of extra time and then return to the second venue for the second ten minutes. They can decide which venue is played at first by, emmmm, the toss of a coin.
