Tyrone Obsession

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I cant help but wonder why so many people I have spoken to and expressed on this that Tyrone can win the all ireland. I dont think Tyrone are anywhere near winning an all ireland. Tyrone were a great team for a number of years but they are simply not good enough now and I would rank them about 7th or 8th in the country. Does anyone else agree that they dont stand a chance?

While i would agree that Tyrone are not right up there with the top 3-4 counties they still deserve respect. Mickey Harte knows how to organise a team for a championship campaign and there is a wealth of experience amongst the players. They know how to find that bit extra when needs be - something which some supposedly better teams (naming no names!!) find hard to do.

Having said that - hopefully we can catch them cold in the first round of Ulster and send them for the back door!

Of course they have a chance, they were the only team who won all of their games in any of the 4 divisions and more than likely would have won the final had it not been for injuries.

They are still some way off winning another SAM but could pull off a shock in the All Ireland quarters. Football is cyclical, Cork and Dublin went years not winning All Irelands but are at the minute while Tyrone have faded off the scene a bit but no doubt will come back. Ulster football at county level is currently pretty poor and in a bit of a dip but that's the way it goes in sport.

Harte is probably the best football manager of the last 10 years but i think he is lacking material at the present moment.I fancy Armagh to knock them out in the first round, but then again, you never know

I think you'll find that accolade belongs to Longford and they won their final!

One defeat doesnt make you a bad team they will be the bookies favourite for ulster and will have a stab at the quarter finals might come up short but u never know.

completely agree with this post id rate dublin , cork , kerry , kildare , mayo all ahead of them , they were exposed badly in the league final 1 for playing a horrible brand of football and 2 for not being good enough , ronan mcnabb the tyrone wingforward didnt kick the ball once in that game , in my opinion the likes mcnabb , mckenna , cavanagh , cassidy , mark donnelly , mccarron , johnathan curran and damie mccaul arent good enough players to win an all ireland

I wouldn't write off any team with Mickey Harte at the wheel. I certainly hope they give it a good shot; the more competitive teams there are, the better for everyone. I certainly don't want to see the football decend into a two-horse race; especially not a repitition of the All-munster affairs we've had recently. Regardless of whether or not the teams involved deserved to be there, it does the concept of the "All Ireland" a disservice when it becomes a one-province affair.

for the last decade, dublin were touted as challengers for the all ireland and they couldn't even make a final - but then in 2011 the GAA gave in to the constant hype. . . .so you can see why tryone would use the same tactics

Tyrone were good throughout the league but once Kildare got to grips with their gameplan they didn't have much of a plan B. That'll have to change for championship

I doubt you wouldnt be the brightest spark in the fire. If you watched any tyrone games this year you would see that we are top 5 material and will be a force to be reckoned with. Alot of hungry talented players itching to make a mark in the championship. It might suit you better to worry about your own chances because yous are a team who will be lucky to reach a quarter final this year never mind going any further.

No one in the county is tipping them for Sam, simples. We will give it a good crack but have a long way to go before we can be considered as real contenders again

Yep, are options arn't great this year due to retirements and injuries to new possible county greats. It doesnt look good, we will win a few games but sure silverware may be a few years of yet. A good result would be to push for Ulster and maybe get to the quater finals at best

Hello! Tyrone played 7 won 7 beating Kildare by 5 points. Kildare could only manage to win 4 out of 7 and stumbled into the final with an injury time penalty against Galway. They also barely beat a poor Meath side. Only in Ireland would a team with such a poor record in the League be given a chance to be called "League Champions" in a cup game!

Sorry, my mistake. They were the only team unbeaten!! Same as the Dubs last year until the final but all that goes out the window if you lose the final. Unfair, yes but it is what it is!
