I cant help but wonder why so many people I have spoken to and expressed on this that Tyrone can win the all ireland. I dont think Tyrone are anywhere near winning an all ireland. Tyrone were a great team for a number of years but they are simply not good enough now and I would rank them about 7th or 8th in the country. Does anyone else agree that they dont stand a chance? While i would agree that Tyrone are not right up there with the top 3-4 counties they still deserve respect. Mickey Harte knows how to organise a team for a championship campaign and there is a wealth of experience amongst the players. They know how to find that bit extra when needs be - something which some supposedly better teams (naming no names!!) find hard to do. crossranger (Armagh) - Posts: 96 - 07/05/2012 15:58:30 1167246 Link 0 |

Of course they have a chance, they were the only team who won all of their games in any of the 4 divisions and more than likely would have won the final had it not been for injuries. AfricanGael (UK) - Posts: 1947 - 07/05/2012 16:05:40 1167251 Link 0 |

They are still some way off winning another SAM but could pull off a shock in the All Ireland quarters. Football is cyclical, Cork and Dublin went years not winning All Irelands but are at the minute while Tyrone have faded off the scene a bit but no doubt will come back. Ulster football at county level is currently pretty poor and in a bit of a dip but that's the way it goes in sport. Ulsterman (Antrim) - Posts: 9840 - 07/05/2012 16:07:25 1167254 Link 0 |

Harte is probably the best football manager of the last 10 years but i think he is lacking material at the present moment.I fancy Armagh to knock them out in the first round, but then again, you never know Take_em_off (Mayo) - Posts: 212 - 07/05/2012 16:07:26 1167255 Link 0 |

One defeat doesnt make you a bad team they will be the bookies favourite for ulster and will have a stab at the quarter finals might come up short but u never know. 93vintageyear (Derry) - Posts: 301 - 07/05/2012 16:33:01 1167278 Link 0 |

completely agree with this post id rate dublin , cork , kerry , kildare , mayo all ahead of them , they were exposed badly in the league final 1 for playing a horrible brand of football and 2 for not being good enough , ronan mcnabb the tyrone wingforward didnt kick the ball once in that game , in my opinion the likes mcnabb , mckenna , cavanagh , cassidy , mark donnelly , mccarron , johnathan curran and damie mccaul arent good enough players to win an all ireland stekhli (Dublin) - Posts: 3121 - 07/05/2012 16:41:36 1167284 Link 0 |

I wouldn't write off any team with Mickey Harte at the wheel. I certainly hope they give it a good shot; the more competitive teams there are, the better for everyone. I certainly don't want to see the football decend into a two-horse race; especially not a repitition of the All-munster affairs we've had recently. Regardless of whether or not the teams involved deserved to be there, it does the concept of the "All Ireland" a disservice when it becomes a one-province affair. festinog (Galway) - Posts: 3154 - 07/05/2012 16:46:00 1167288 Link 0 |

for the last decade, dublin were touted as challengers for the all ireland and they couldn't even make a final - but then in 2011 the GAA gave in to the constant hype. . . .so you can see why tryone would use the same tactics cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5331 - 07/05/2012 16:59:20 1167299 Link 0 |

i think tyrone are playing really good footie at present and deserve there credit but lets not forget they were playing in division 2,i wonder how well they would have done in div1,i honestly dont see them as contenders this year for sam still too early but definitely a work in progress.. dubbydave. Tyrone were good throughout the league but once Kildare got to grips with their gameplan they didn't have much of a plan B. That'll have to change for championship square_ball_69 (Westmeath) - Posts: 826 - 07/05/2012 21:59:25 1167522 Link 0 |

No one in the county is tipping them for Sam, simples. We will give it a good crack but have a long way to go before we can be considered as real contenders again brendtheredhand (Tyrone) - Posts: 10897 - 07/05/2012 22:01:18 1167526 Link 0 |

Yep, are options arn't great this year due to retirements and injuries to new possible county greats. It doesnt look good, we will win a few games but sure silverware may be a few years of yet. A good result would be to push for Ulster and maybe get to the quater finals at best cacsmckilly (Tyrone) - Posts: 1294 - 08/05/2012 08:40:59 1167532 Link 0 |

Sorry, my mistake. They were the only team unbeaten!! Same as the Dubs last year until the final but all that goes out the window if you lose the final. Unfair, yes but it is what it is! Jackeen (Dublin) - Posts: 4097 - 08/05/2012 09:21:44 1167543 Link 0 |
