Tyrone vs Roscommon

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I am really looking forward to this game. I hope that Roscommon can bring their A game to the table and that Tyrone are complacent. No matter what the team say and what the manager says they are bound to be. I have an unbelievable amount of respect for Tyrone and Mickey Harte. No team has gone through what they have and they have always came back from it and delivered exceptional performances. They are a special group of players with a special manager. I do believe him saying however he was "impressed" by Roscommon in the Connacht final is a ploy. How could he have been impressed we were terrible, though the conditions were a major factor. Ill-discipline, a game plan littered with short-passing WITH the wind. It beggared belief at times. If we kick decent ball to Shine and Kilbride, Cregg gets running at their defence and we can get a good supply of ball from midfield we have a chance. Kilbride will not be 100% fit and I believe this is a massive loss for us. Thoughts?

Out of curiousity, does anyone know if this game is televised? I know the Donegal game is on but don't think that Tyrone/Roscommon being covered?

Sorry to hijack the thread!

Hopefully Ros can play to their potential. If they do and Tyrone have an off day then they have a chance.

In saying that I'd expect Tyrone to win pulling up.

Its like I said before rosfan, I am very nervous about this game, and with every reason. Any way enjoy your day out at HQ and hope you can mix with the real Tyrone support as opposed to the horse plunkett mentality.

What reason do you have to be worried? Was it their win over the giants of New York or the mighty Leitrim that has you shaking in your boots? Let's call a spade a spade here, we're several levels above Roscommon and will show it tomorrow

I'd fancy Tyrone, by 5-6 points, but it will be a battle for most of the game, with Tyrone edging in front in the last quarter. Donie Shine will be the main man for Roscommon, but Joe McMahon should be well able for him.

i'd imagine you are a junior D footballer, member of Club Tyrone, and a non attender of any non serious Tyrone matches. Not long ago since Tyrone never had one all ireland on their records so bit more respect needed. We have players that would get on the Tyrone Team with ease such as Cathal Cregg, Senan Kilbride, Donal Shine and Claffey.

Looking forward to an exciting game! Roscomáin abú

Tyrone to win the game in the final 10 or 15 . If Big Joe can keep Shine in check that will be half the battle especially given Kilbride isn't 100pc . Roscommon will see this as a big scalp n numbers 1-15 will be up for this . Tyrones experience of Croker and ability to bring on lads with 2 or 3 All Ireland's will be the difference . Tyrone to win 1-17 to 2-09 .

Teams from the West have a habit of upsetting the Apple-cart Sligo came to croker with no hope of beating an up and coming Tyrone side only to leave us licking our wounds , I wouldn't write the Rossies off they have nothing to lose and will give a bold show and as for the Tyrone wum brigade Respect the opposition . I would assume Tyrone should this one but sure anything can happen, if Tyrone have an off day Roscommon have players like Claffey,Kilbride, Shine and Mannion who would hop on to most starting 15s in the country, don't think we can read to much in to how Roscommon performed against Mayo as the conditions that day were atrocious for football so I think Roscommon will make the game extremely competitive.

Tyrone won't underestimate Roscommon - and most fans won't either. As mentioned before Mayo 2004 Sligo 2002 both games heavily tipped to win and beaten by inspired opposition.
I also think Tyrone have now got to prove again that they can operate in croke park - previously the ground they loved and excelled at. Cork and Dublin games produced sub-par performances with nervous poor shooting - 18/19 wides against Dublin and numerous chances not taken against Cork.
Sean Cavanagh is about 40% currently and we can't afford that from any of our players never mind someone of his ability.
We also need to prove again that we have the pace to live with the open spaces.
So grounds to be nervous but we are not without hope ability or spirit.

tyronetim , tyrone were very poor last year they were well beaten by dublin ,now this year is different mickey has worked his magic yet again and they are coming in under the radar i think this is their banana skin and if they get over roscommon they should make the final and then its a 2 horse race

The game will not be on TV and yes its very annoying espec when they charge 30 euro for one ticket. Its ok for Dublin based fans who are paid Dublin wages but for a family to go to croke park, plus fuel and food is a small fortune. It is live on the radio at least. They are showing cynical Donegal and the lillies
