If that or close to that is the starting team I'm changing my prediction to a 6 point Dublin win ;)

http://hoganstand.com/Article/Index/294554 You can take Mannion, McCarthy out of that team. Plus Connolly. Mon79 (Monaghan) - Posts: 81 - 23/01/2019 10:58:49 2159059 Link 0 |
Thats an all Ireland final lineup, Monaghan wont even have their best 15 back for the first round of the league......must be some training in Florida!

Very difficult game ahead no doubt. jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20600 - 23/01/2019 11:49:16 2159071 Link 3 |
This is not a big match, is not in Croke Park, is not championship and does not involve Tyrone. Perhaps open alternate thread and mention Tyrone's recent big match "wilts" in Croker, Cork semi 09, Mayo semi 13, Kerry semi 15, Dublin semi 17 and Dublin final 18. Tyrone deservedly beat Monaghan in August by the way. I'm 50% Tryone blood and I cheered for Dublin for the first All Ireland ever last year. Enought said. If you read your post carefully it consistently says "semi" and "final". How many all Ireland semi finals and finals have Monaghan been in over the last few years? Apart from last year when you were beat by Tyrone? Listen I'm not here to bash Monaghan. Just corrected the OP. If Monaghan had I'd beat Tyrone last year I would certainly have been cheering them on the final, not that it would have made a difference because they would have been well beat just like Tyrone were. Anyway, back on topic, any predictions on the Monaghan starting team? Any injuries? McManus playing? The_Fridge (Tyrone) - Posts: 2088 - 23/01/2019 14:37:32 2159106 Link 0 |
You can rip up my team so with no Kilkenny, McCarthy and Fento. waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13650 - 23/01/2019 15:32:42 2159117 Link 3 |
Wouldn't like to predict the starting team, fear the team announced will not resemble the starting team. He has a habit of picking a containing team for the start and keeping something back for the second half. I hope he goes for it flat out from the start and see where it takes us, would be great to see three inside forwards including K Hughes and mix it up a bit. Possession will be key to this one, battle of the goalkeepers methinks. Best rated in the country versus the second best mhunicean_abu (Monaghan) - Posts: 1044 - 23/01/2019 15:55:08 2159126 Link 1 |

Dublin will win this pulling up. Monaghan missing a lot of key men for this one. Think 1-18 when everyone fit we are well up there but after that not so much so. Good talent coming through especially in forwards but will take a few years.Beggan and McManus will continue to be the key men this year. seanie08 (Monaghan) - Posts: 1799 - 24/01/2019 05:38:40 2159209 Link 0 |
Mon missing two key men for this one. Kearns and K Hughes who is resting that hamstring. And he played very little last summer all be it very well when he came on in the semi. Not sure if any other injuries. Theory is that McManus should be rested but he's sure to want to play against Dublin at home. So in reality Monaghan have a pretty strong squad to select from. Including the few new lads. Plus they have had three competitive games to Dublins none. So no real excuses from Monaghan perspective. As referenced above, Dublin missing alot of their big men but they are so strong through out the panel they should still be favourites to win this, and every game they play. But certainly better to play Dublin now than in late Feb when they are starting to eye another league title. Mon79 (Monaghan) - Posts: 81 - 24/01/2019 11:20:42 2159243 Link 0 |

Not sure on Super Brian 2, and Con Jimbo, think they both played Sigurson

Howard and Con are not in the panle as they play Siegurson. Monaghan's best chance to beat Dublin in a meaningfull match in donkey's years. I think they will too as they go hard at the start of the league to stay up. If Dublin win this it is onimous for the rest of the year! witnof (Dublin) - Posts: 1604 - 24/01/2019 15:31:13 2159309 Link 1 |
