Injuries in pre season tournaments.

(Oldest Posts First)

I believe a number of players got injured today in the pre season tournaments.
You would have to question their value is someone's season ends on a cold wet early January day.
According to reports there have been 3 serious injuries in the Mc Kenna cup games.
Has anyone else any reports on this?

You can get an injury at any time of the year.

Its just bad luck.

Totally agree but you've got to feel sorry for someone whose season could end first weekend in January.

A serious injury like the one McAliskey potentially has is really the final straw that broke the camels back. It is heartbreaking for the player, but you will find this was going to happen sooner rather than later. Jan/Feb ground is heavy, uneven you get a fair share of hamstrings as well this time. Only so much injury prevention/fitness can do to tired strained limbs.

Its hard on any player, we lost a exceptional talent against Kildare a few years back to injure in O'Byrne cup. He returned to training only to do cruciate, and unfortunately looks like never playing again. The player I speak of is Connor Gillespie. Huge loss and one Meath still hasn't replaced . Its very hard on the players, but it happens unfortunately all too often
