A lot of county boards don't want their finals on TG4 as it affects the crowd going and hence the gate taken in. I know in the years the Offaly finals were shown both crowds were way down on subsequent years

Are you comparing an all Ireland semi with the Dublin county final? Different level all together. I have never seen them show a county final on a Saturday I doubt the have and Dublin county board seem to fix the county finals very late in the day compared to other finals.

They showed dublins under 21 Leinster hurling game v carlow on a Tuesday evening haha surely the championship final of the county that just won back to back all Ireland's and the county championship that contained the defending all ireland club champions that couldn't make it past the 2nd round in is very much on a level as the all ireland semi final considering that Vincent's were already favourites to win the all ireland and had beaten one of the other favourites for the all ireland in ballymun kickhams in the Dublin semi final.

One of the most amazing things about the Dublin Championship is that the county club semi and final had attendances of 10.000 +. Thats phenomenal and an indication of how strong the GAA is becoming in the county. All the talk of finance and the rest if the DCB are pulling in crowds like that for club matches it's certainly not a bad thing financially.

In Longford over 4000 people can attend their county senior final

from a population of over 30000!

the Dublin attendance is not great. St Vincents alone has a catchment population of at least 20 - 30 K

Fair play to Longford club football mate that's impressive, must be great average attendances at county games? I guess going of your figures if one third or half of your figures of St Vincent's population total, turn up on a cold week day night personally I think that that's pretty impressive.

If Vincent's catchment area is between 20k-30k there are at least another 3/4 clubs in that catchment area.

Clubs in Dublin don't have defined boundaries like they do down the country.

Was talking about the late date the game was fixed giving tg4 little time for to prepare. Nearly every dublin league and championship game is shown so I think if tg4 had the option the would defo show it. The shower the hurling final in the past which would be a less atractive game. It is very argant to compare a county final to a all Ireland semi final just because of bookies odds

it was fixed three weeks in advance!
how is that late???
plus you said if they played finals on a sunday, last years final was played on a sunday afternoon between ballyboden and st vincents.
its not just because of bookies odds its the quality of the teams in dublin about 4-5 are on a par with an all ireland semi final club.
most journalists reckoned the vincents v ballymun dublin semi final was basically the leinster final, its not me being arrogant at all im only repeating what people from other counties are saying and most would like to see the dublin championship final live.

Yeah TG4 not showing much Dublin club games always struck me as quite odd especially seeing as there are now more Irish speakers in Dublin than anywhere else in the country.

They did show Boden and O'Tooles in the hurling final maybe 7/8 years ago.

I think setanta beat them to the rights a few years back and they've stayed away since.

Is Dublin TV still going?

I've no Irish and enjoy watching games on tg4.Pretty easy to follow a live game and the commentator is lively. The problem i have is the pre,half-time and post game talk as gaeilge.I never listen to this as i wouldn't understand.Seo Spoirt is excellent because it is subtitled.

I think the Dublin football champo is the new 'little all Ireland', which was what they used to call the cork hurling champo. Similarities in quality, rivalries, interest within and outside the county, etc.
It's great to witness, and more than anything else, it's the driving force behind Dublin's IC success

Your better off not understanding the half time analysis in any language as nine times out of ten your ears will contradict what your eyes have just seen
