Replying To FrDougalMaguire:  "Not sure he's the man for the job ! he under achieved with a very talented Monaghan team playing many players out of position. He had far more talent at his disposal then Malachy O'Rourke has.
We need someone with a tactical brain to continue the hard work over the past few years. We are the brink of progressing or going backwards.
I think Banty would be a backward step.
Mc Gleenan has achieved a lot with Scotstown and while he has no inter county experience, neither had Jim Mc Guinness when he took the reigns in Donegal."
backward step for wexford? we are in div 4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cant go any more back

Its probably a good move here for both parties.

Expectation for the Wexford footballers at the moment isnt all that high considering its not that long ago we were playing in an All Ireland semi final and had previously made Division one league finals whilst arguably running Dublin closer than many counties at the time in Leinster.

There are still some decent players down here and enough talent to at least move from Division 4 and possibly further with a bit of luck and get a run through the qualifiers. In reality its achievable and there isnt going to be much more expectation on Banty over and above achieving those aims.

Its definitely going to be an interesting 2017 down here with Banty over the footballers and Davey taking the hurlers.

I can see it now. Wexford draw cavan in the qualifiers. Banty versus McGleenan.

I would like to see him do well with Wexford. I never agreed with him becoming manager of Meath as I didn't like the idea of Meath having an outside manager but that never had anything to do with Banty personally. I always liked the way he had a great passion for managing teams.

Didn't think Banty would be a good appointment for Cavan as they at level he couldn't take Monaghan past. However think good appointment for Wexford as they are in Div 4 and he is perfect to get them up the divisions and possibly decent run also in qualifiers.Certainly won't be boring down there with him and Davy Fitz around
