Philly McMahon had a decent season but he was short of his performances from last year. Go back to the first game against Mayo, I think he cost Dublin 2-3 points with some really sloppy passing, he gave away some silly ball in the second game too. He wasn't getting on the scoreboard as much as last year but I wouldn't hold that against him too much as he is a corner back first and foremost. As a man marker he's still up there as one of the best in the business. Always gets the oppositions best to look after and he usually does it well. keithlemon (Australia) - Posts: 920 - 11/10/2016 10:38:25 1924799 Link 0 |
I'd have Jonny Cooper out in front for poty. Absolute joke that Kilkenny was nominated ahead of him. Philly McMahon would also of deserved a nomination ahead of Kilkenny. How could you nominate a player who is afraid to back himself for a point from 21 yards? Not doubting his talent but can't see where the nomination came from on this year's performance. I can't see how Cooper slotted in for O'Carroll seamlessly, he doesn't have the required composure and proved it with his black card.. The Dublin full back line is still weak and will be until O'Carroll is back.. Winning an all-ireland does not mean that you have a good full back line. Have to agree with alot of people on here im afraid to say. Although I love Kilkenny I cant for the life of me figure out how he got a nomaination for POTY. Take Connolly and McManamon for example. ConnollyDub (Dublin) - Posts: 2007 - 11/10/2016 13:25:18 1924890 Link 0 |
