Actually Wayno it's Emmet Ó Conghaile.

No apostrophe and a fada on the O. Same with the Ó Sé brothers rather than the O'Sé brothers if you get me.

My misses is a native speaker.

That changes regionally Mes.

Very subtle differences between Ulster Irish and Connaught Irish for example.

Does it?

My missus is West Cork in anyways so that's where my Gaeilge is mainly from.

This whole Dubs geography is very strange, and anyways, what if you were raised in say, Ballinteer, play for St Johns, but work and live in say Phibsboro....??

In that instance the player would have two options under the current rules as happens in other counties. I thought that using a river as a boundary means that you live on either side of the river (liffey in this case) so that is a pretty simple divide. A player from any county working in another county has two options of where to play- being good enough helps!

It's up to the rest of us to make the best of what we have available and aim for the highest level. Anything else is a losing mentality. Mayo aren't far behind Dublin. There are 6 or 7 (maybe more) counties of similar population. No excuses for them. Get their act together. Roscommon, Monaghan, Cavan of smaller population are making great strides.

Dublin will always be strong but their will be a dip coming when this team passes. The Dubs of the noughties were manageable for Kildare, Meath, Laois and Westmeath on occasion."
This thread is just a what if. I don't really think too many people actually would want Dublin to split.

They could play each other with the winner going through to the quarters a bit like a new province!

Jack Goff would divide Dublin into the 7 old medieval liberties though if he got a chance :)

Replying To Liamwalkinstown:  "ya but Ormond, when we speak of "northsiders" and "Southsiders", Blanch, Lucan, Skerries, Swords etc wouldnt really fall into either category. I mean dont get me wrong they are by definition, one or the other as in north or south of the river , but REAL northsiders would the like of Raheny, Marino, Whitehall. Real southside would be your Liberties, Rialto, Crumlin, me own area Walkinstown, Drimnagh.

Of course there is always your more......affluent places on both sides, like Blackrock, Foxrock on one side and D4 in general on the southside, but to be honest, a Walkinstown Gael has far more in common with a Raheny Gael than he has in common with a Donnybrook fella

If you get me !!

This whole Dubs geography is very strange, and anyways, what if you were raised in say, Ballinteer, play for St Johns, but work and live in say Phibsboro....??"
Never heard such ill informed crap in my life. Being told by a REAL southsider that I am not actually a REAL northsider kinda sounds like you could be one of those Donnybrook fellas you refer to.The Liffey splits the county in two, simples
