By the way that was one of the worst accounts of themselves i've seen a Tyrone team give, we won't be getting 0-0 from our corner forwards every match and I'd have to imagine Niall Morgan won't be taking a free for Tyrone ever again"
One of the best things ye could do is find a solid free taker! Think your forwards aren't up to the level required yet we got by ye by the skin of our teeth. If the youngs lads yet have playing up from developed into the forwards like Kerry's or dublins then ye will definitely be on the way back but if the go like our lads and can score from play in a big match like against Dublin or in a final then you will be like us!

I am going to try and console myself this week with the thought of a Mayo V Tyrone final next year with us shading it but we need to introduce 2/3 new forwards that are capable of consistently contributing a combined total of 5 from play to add to Cillian frees & few scores from play and an increased scoring ratio from a fully fit Diarmuid.

My Top 5 are Dublin, Mayo, Kerry, Tyrone Donegal & Tyrone
I think any of these 5 have the potential to win 2017, Donegal and Kerry have had good minor teams the last number of years . Tyrone U21 All Ireland Champs 2015, Mayo U21 champions 2016

Slightly back I would Place Monaghan, Galway, Tipperary, Cavan & Roscommon but I feel that we will not see any of these in the 2017 final but that not saying it cannot happen in the near future

Cork May surprise next year a few players back good U21 team last year

Heres to a great 2017 and Mayo finally falling over the line :-)"
We need these new forwards to be chomping at the bit and to be mentality different a bit more devil may care in front of the posts already! Plus they need to be up to speed physically as well it's a big jump between u21 or club to where our team are! I'd say if we manage to unearth a diamonds I'd give two or three years before we make our breakthrough, that's taking in to consideration that Dublin do in fact go into decline ( hard to see that with the young talent coming through) and then there's the Kerry three in a row minors ( again considering they make the jump not always a given!) then there's Tyrone, will Tipperary take the next step in their development, will donegal return to the pinnacle, will Roscommon or Galway finally hit gold? Or cork or Meath or Kildare? It's all hypothetical though?

We have a very consistent free taker in Darren McCurry unfortunately he spent most of the year on the bench

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying he's a top 5 forward yet by any means but he has consistency and potential.

Conor McAliskey will be a top 5 forward if he can work on his consistency, on his day he can hit them from anywhere

Frankly I and a lot of Tyrone fans i've talked to feel the system beat us this year, we got behind and the system limits your chances at the best of times, we won All Irelands defending in packs and attacking in numbers at pace. Now we defend with the system and have to build up every single attack from the back, we're skillful footballers in Tyrone, everyone on the team is comfortable on the ball at pace so we're essentially surrendering our greatest weapon to make sure we don't concede too much which to me is trying to not lose rather than trying to win.

A team may as well lose playing to their strengths rather than forcing themselves into a style of play that isn't natural to them

The reason the scored nothing that day is the are not good enough the same reason Morgan was taking the frees no else was better then him

How are the underperforming these players have been at the same level for years

Put your Tyrone hate away, the lads are 25 and 26 and it was a bad day at the office.

I'd get your point if Morgan took all the frees but he doesn't and hasn't ever so there's that

Team picked by clondalkindub

Still a lot of years in this Dublin team

Think of the names not on the list that still have another 3-5 years left in them too

Gavin will look to give serious game time to a lot of these lads in the league, and you'll see a few more early 20's lads being brought into the panel."
Don't forget other counties will have plenty of 20 to23/25 year old lads coming through. Kerry have had great minor success Mayo u21 All Ireland champs. Tyrone and Donegal but good under age teams
Good and all as Dublin are they could have been defeated in 2011 final(ask any Kerryman) again in 2013 and indeed this year So could easily have been only one All Irl over the last five years. I know it turned out different but goes to show how hard it is to win the final. And I don't think Dublin have played well in any of the finals , always seemed to play better football earlier on in the year.

Football will always continue to surprise us. Look at the this season, can't think of too many who'd have predicted that Tipp would make the final 4 and likewise Galway would beat Mayo. I can't recall too many people who'd have predicted that Mayo would make a final after their defeat to Galway.

I'd expect Monaghan to have a far better campaign, there wasn't a great deal between them and Donegal and they should have a couple of those u21's making the step up.

Looking at the so called top 5 of Dublin, Kerry, Mayo, Tyrone & Donegal I see Donegal as the team who don't have a chance of challenging for the big prize. Kerry will win Munster as I just can't see Tipp beating them whilst Cork have the personnel to beat them but just look far to unorganised.

I think Meath will improve but many of the Meath posters are expecting too much too soon, I don't see them getting promoted this year but I don't see them getting relegated either. They could be capable of making a quater final as long as they benefit from a good draw.

As for Connacht, Galway, Mayo & Roscommon will all be looking to win Connacht although Mayo will be strong favourites once again. Galway's aim has be winning a game in Croke Park given its 2001 since we last won a game in HQ whilst Roscommon haven't beaten the big 2 in Connacht since 2001.

As a Galwayman I'd settle for promotion to Div 1 this year and winning a game in Croker in the championship and then we can take it from there.

I think Tyrone are similar to Dublin in 2010 or Donegal 2011. Not good enough to win the All-Ireland on this years performance but a good base to build on. Need to progress on the attacking side but hopefully playing in Division One after winning the Ulster Championship will bring the team and tactics on. Mickey has got to trust his defence more and attack a lot more from the half forward line. Games against Kerry last year and Donegal and Mayo this year do hint at the possibilities.
