Briefly who will win on Sunday and by how much?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Dublin not quite what they were but Mayo are probably the weakest team to make a final in 40 years. They had an extraordinarily easy run to the final, the only real test being an underperforming 14 man Tyrone.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see Mayo do it and I hope my prediction is completely wrong. But I can't see anything but a 15 point win for Dublin.

If Mayo were playing Kerry next Sunday I would not give them a chance Dublin beat a highly motivated and well prepared team who's forwards are ahead of what Mayo have on offer though I'd dearly love to see Mayo triumph it has to be Dublin by at least 6 points

Hope it''s Mayo but if Dublin keep 15 players on the pitch I think they will win. If Mayo are chasing the game near the finish it could give the Dubs the chance to pick off a couple of scores on the break to increase the winning margin.

Have the opposite opinion...if Mayo were playing Kerry on Sunday I'd put my house on them winning it because this year's Kerry team is/was nowhere near as good as previous years (Gooch clearly on the wane etc). However it's the Dubs and I think Dublin will win by 2 points.

Mayo by 2. I think coming in under the radar will help them tremendously.

Hopefully Mayo will do it and imo they will do it by a one point margin. Then all hell breaks loose!

Gavin would have his homework done for Sunday and he has great respect for Mayo. The interesting thing about Sunday for me is what the 2 managers bring to the game, fascinating stuff. Rochford is a cool operator too. I have gone back and forth on this, no advantage for Mayo for extra week rest. Ciaran KK and AOS will have a big say. Dublin by 1. Up Mayo but respect to the winners either way.

Dublin 2-17 Mayo 1-12

Dublin have better players all over the field and from what I've seen this year there isn't one line I think Mayo can get a massive advantage against them.

I'd like to see Mayo try something completely different and maybe play both Barry Moran and Aidan O'Shea in the full forward line and bombard Dublin with high balls. However they need to do it properly and make sure there is support for the inside men and not the rubbish attempt they made last year when Aidan O'Shea was left isolated.

If Dublin do have a weakness I think it's their full back line and I think if Mayo try to play a normal game of football and play through Dublin they are not good enough they need to go for goals and bypass part of the field perhaps to get to the scoring zone quickly.

Barring two very soft goals, dubs would have beat Kerry by the score that would have accurately reflected the game itself, dub ayers (cluxton apart) never seemed rattled and at ht you swear they were up by 5, so despite what I hope for (a mayo win) I cant see anything other than a 7+ winning margin.
Mayo's only hope is to pressure cluxton, forget about frustrating Connolly, concentrate on cluxton, he will fall apart again, give him no options but to kick long, the ball will go over sideline more than not, IF mayo do this and its a big if then I give them a decent shout, the weak link is cluxton, and he is also the one that pulls the strings,
So that's it, give cluxton freedom and its dubs by 7+ , frustrate him and its mayo by one.

BAC 1.18 MO 2.11.

On the basis of players and form this should be Dublin's, but no game is won until its played. Maigh Eo will come wanting to win this and will give all. The only problem for them is that BAC will too. However there are a few chinks and Maigh Eo, if they find them have a chance, but I just feel that BAC's ability to keep the scoreboard moving will win out.

Whatever happens, as a Dub, it will be a great one to win as it will put this team on a new level. However annoying though at times that some Maigh Eo fans can be (aren't all great rivals) it has to be said though that you are a great set of supporters who give your team great support. If M.O do win on Sunday, Celebrate widely (with justification) - it could be a frightening prospect! It would be very hard to begrudge that!!! just don't bother me - I'll be mowing the grass or something!!!! Prior to 2011 I remember thinking "to win just once" too - if and when it comes, its bleedin Great - especially if its after 65 years (although I hope it'll be a few more!!!!!!!!!!!)

Up the Dubs...

Same as I think will happen I think this Dublin team are as good as mickos Kerry team of the late 70s early 80s if not better obviously I hope we end the drought but we will have to earn it big time on Sunday!

Dublin by up to 4 pts I reckon. I think Mayo are weaker than they have been in the last couple of years & Dublin proved against Kerry that they can come through a scare & win. This Dublin team also has lost a couple of players since last year but they are at least 3 or 4 pts better than the best of the rest at the moment. I hope I am wrong but it is not enough to desperately want to win a Final, Mayo have to go out and do it & I definitely cannot see them beating this Dublin team.....
