Replying To mayotyroneman:  "Where does your 50/50 opinion poll come from? People who share your opinion? Of course there are grumpy players sitting on the sidelines. If they don't want to play for tyrone it's because they're not good enough. Tyrone does not need the I should've been a contender brigade. Better off without them for the past year"
Who said my opinon was to get rid of Harte? I can tell you 100% for certain the players on the county panel want him to stay. I can also tell you opinion of Mickey Harte on the ground is very much 50/50 between the fans, have an experiment - next time you are at a game or on a night out and GAA comes up in a group ask the question. You'll find it very much split, it's not a slight at Harte whatsoever, it's just fact - surely you can see it even on this forum?

With all due respect, Tyrone were also in the 'contender brigade' this season. An Ulster win is nice, but to be honest it was the absolute minimum expected, considering they came into the Championship unbeaten from January and I'd say Monaghan and Donegal were far from the peak of their recent powers.

We have arguably the most competitive senior footballing club scene in the country - if you are saying that the 30+ on the panel as of the last game v Mayo are the best players available in Tyrone I really urge you to go watch some of the club games coming up. I respect your loyalty to the players, but there are very real alternatives in our club scene that I hope are looked at - especially the lack of alternatives we have physically in our forward line, if Cavanagh goes (which he probably won't) Tyrone literally would have not one forward able to win their own ball (against a Mayo/Dublin/Kerry/Donegal/Monaghan).

Is he not 19? I know Lee was in my brothers year at school.

A panel isn't made up of the best individual players, it's made up of the sum of it's part. It's not just individual talent that gets you on to a county team.

I'll put it to you this way, would Kevin Cassidy have had enough talent to play on any side in 2012? Had he enough individual talent to be on the 2012 starting xv for Donegal? The answer to both is a definitive yes, but he wasn't and Donegal won Sam.

Name the players you are talking about. I suppose you will say Shea McGuigan.....walked off panel. I feel he threw the toys out of the prom to early. Should of stuck at it for another year. Coney.....he was given is chance and didn't take it. Also these two players looked poor against Dromore last year and yesterday in the championship. Ps not having a go at the Arboe club.....great club with great players. The two players I named are the two players seem to think can win Tyrone the all Ireland. So please name the players you are talking about.
Still don't know how you are coming to 50/50. I mine, how possibly could you come to that fact? Have you talked to every Gael in Tyrone? Or 10 people in a bar?

Fridge,
don't know you or where your based, but you sound very like a Gael from the west of the county. Think you'll find a lot of Tyrone fans from the east Tyrone side wouldn't share the sentiments of MH having an indefinite stay until he decides to stop. Don't forget a lot of previous managers didn't get the chances to try bring success that MH has had. 8yrs without an AI is a long time to not deliver and still be in situ. Personally I think next year the least Tyrone fans will expect or accept. Anyhow, will we see any new faces from this years championship? and does it look like there is outstanding players or good players who given a chance to step up could improve the setup.

I thought the old east/west chestnut died of years ago!!!! 8 years is a long time but remember we won absolutely nothing for decades. Remember how poor we were b4 Mickey came to the Tyrone set up. Hammered by Sligo in 2002. Mickey brought a winning mentality to Tyrine.....dispelled the old traditions of Tyrone going down to Croke Park to get there annual hiding by Kerry and Dublin. I feel there is no one in the county to take the position on at the moment. Why not keep a 3 time all Ireland manager in place and nurture a manager though the minors and u21's. I feel it makes sense.
Anyway that's just my two cents. The 3 games yesterday were poor enough. I don't feel anyone really should out who we haven't seen b4. Maybe Danny McNulty. Can anyone name anyone else who isn't in the current panel who has put there hand up?

I still feel that Tyrone need a striker / freetaker. The club scene is very good across the border and I have no doubt that yous are bound to find a good one hidden away in some corner. He might not be playing in your senior category. What happened to Niall Mc Kenna. I really thought that he had a lot of potential. Also I think Mattie Donnelly should be playing closer to goal. He's some talent.

I'm not from Ardboe nor play for them. McGuigan was a high profile case, as was Paddy McNiece and Kyle Coney - but those lads all had chances or were on the panel. I think you are getting at me not liking Harte because you reckon I'm from the East of the county? I'm just offering a view of some of those who never have been in despite outstanding in club football.

To be honest it doesn't bother me one bit if Tyrone win or lose, it just makes my own season go on longer and then get run off as soon as possible without any real chance of being able to plan with proper notice for championship football. So if you think I've some problem with the Tyrone management or some bias, you are completely inaccurate as I'm fairly apathetic to the county.

I had in my head, Danny McNulty of Clonoe, massive talent in every sense of the word and I think could be ready to go right into county football and give Tyrone the route one option which they badly lack. I never thought Jonny Lafferty got a fair crack of the whip despite being there for a few years, the talent he has is sensational. Eoin McCusker of Dromore a prominent scorer in D1 for years, never looked at, Steven McNally of Coalisland etc.

Oh I remember you're posts about Tyrone and the clear distain you feel. I do know how you feel about the club players/coaches etc. However there seems to be an impasse at the moment that needs attention. Maybe try to get something to congress. Difficult I know.
Eoin McCusker had his chance......great player but over 30 now. Lafferty missed the boat unfortunately. McNulty is young enough and a strong player.....should come into the squad next year.
But no one can tell me players who would greatly improve the current Tyrone team. Good article in the Irish news regarding MH. Give it a read.

In my neck of the woods many firmly believe that one man in particular was the brains behind the Tyrone set up. That man was Tony Donnelly. The greatest tactician of them all. Many believe that he is the man that Tyrone need most if they are to lift Sam again. He will spot the talent and get the striker / forward / freetaker that's needed.

Tyrones negative play against Mayo was frustrating to watch and probably the deciding factor
If they even had one more forward in support they could have won that game
