Subbed off in the Munster final, had a great game against Kilkenny in the drawn game, did some spectacular things in the replay but also did some stupid things which were not highlighted.
Deserves YPOTY but not HOTY that accolade is between Pauric Maher and Seamie and Seamie ."
If you look at Callinans performances this year then your argument doesn't stand up. He was injured for most of the league and his last match against Clare he was poor. He was outshone by J McGrath for most of the cship.
Should be Paudie for me.

Agree Tiobraid, Seamie gave an exhibition in the final and rightly got man of the match but its the player of the year we're talking about and I think Paudie Maher was consistently good all year, followed closely but John McGrath.

I think you misunderstood me.My argument is that the award is between paudie maher and Seamie Callanan.I didn't say which one of them I think should get it.As it happens I think Maher was more consistent but Callanan put in the best performance last Sunday scoring 9 points from play on the biggest day of all.
The point I'm really making is its between the two Tipp lads that AG hasn't a prayer.

Ah ok. I suppose my point was that one bad performance from Gleeson shouldn't give him a less chance than Callinan if you get me?
It'll be interesting anyway. I just hope the best players get All Stars and it's done fairly and not picked on reputation

Seamie Cal for me.

he could have won it the last two years but you would say the deciding factor those years were that the players who did win the award (Hogan and TJ) as well as being top of their game they ended the year with AI medals in their pocket.

Glesson seems to be the main challenge to Seamie this year but its a little too soon i think. definitely he should be young hurler oty but time to give Seamie his props this year.

John McGrath for me - more consistent than Callinan.

Austin Gleeson was superb as well. I cant help but feel his temperament will go against him at times in the future though.

Paudie Maher was the best and most consistent player this year with John McGrath a close 2nd. Seamus Callanan and Aussie Gleeson were very close if you take league and championship games but both still behind IMO. Having said all that i think Callanan will actually get POTY and Aussie a shoe in for YPOTY.

Player of the Year is Paudie Maher, brilliant in EVERY game.
Young Player of the Year is Austin Gleeson. Ronan Maher very unlucky that Gleeson was so good otherwise he'd have won it easily!
