The worst GAA nicknames

Replying To Offside_Rule:  "And just thinking more about the '89 team and there also was Pappy O'Kane and Dew McMullan (was Mushy McMullan in the panel that year?). In fact, I wonder did any player not have a nickname on that team?

From my own days playing I remember some of the nicknames of the players you would have been up against (underage and adult):
Wiggsy
Scaldy
Ghosty
Nipper
Satan
Skinny
Lanky
Skunk
Bog Rat

And some others which wouldn't pass the moderation...."
If Scaldy is the one who played for Portglenone/Sean Stinsons then I was good friends with him.

I played against the following:

Crow
Animal
Windows
Purple

There was a guy from Aldergrove with a very unsavoury one based on the colour of his skin that got shouted loud and proud by his teammates. Pretty bad looking back on it.

In our club we've had a lot down the years

Rooster
Pizza
Tin Man
Bugsy
Sticky
Cat
Bird
Bishop
Greyhound
Wurzel

Anthony 'Larry' Finnerty got his nickname after he put on a few pounds after a good summer in the US. His son is on the Galway minor team that will play Kerry on the 18th. In fairness his nickname is a lot better than the music of Fat Larry's Band !

Called after the great Shaquille O'Neal, because of his size!! Don't think its one of the worst nicknames, it makes sense really!

Do any of you actually know what a gooch is? I had a good giggle to myself the first time I heard it on the tele as a teenager.

The only people that call him "King" Henry are Cyril Farrell, Marty Morrissey and tabloid headline editors.
