Ha, you'll make yourself popular with that comment!

Galligan's kick-outs are outstanding, but we don't have the system that Dublin have in terms of dragging forwards around and opening up space for a man to take the kick-out.

Another way of looking at it for opposing teams is the need to ensure they do better on their own kick outs. With all the talk of Cluxton's kick outs, what goes under the radar a little is how well Dublin do on their opponents Kick outs. Big factor in replay win v Mayo was Dublin dominating Mayo's kick outs in the last 15 minutes. Kerry struggled as well last week. Dublin probably do pushing up better than anyone.

If the solution to beating Dublin was just pushing up on Cluxton, several very good Managers down the years would have mastered that.

True, but Mayo had lost both of their first-choice midfielders at that point. I think that most teams would struggle in those circumstances.

That's true, but the same had happened Dublin the previous week in the drawn game for the last 10 minutes or so when Mayo had 'cracked' Cluxton's kick outs according to the experts that analysed the game afterwards. That was just typical of the type of lazy journalism that seems to pervade these days. One reporter comes up with an angle and everyone else jumps on it. Within a week its accepted as gospel by all.
At the end of the day most keepers at that level control their own kick outs unless the opposition either push up in big numbers or flood midfield for longer kick outs, and this can only be done in phases as it is both energy sapping and risky in that it leaves a lot of space behind midfield should the kick out be retained. The advantage Cluxton has is the accuracy and trajectory of his kick outs are unrivalled in the game at the moment, and in tight games at this end of the year its (hopefully) the little things that make the difference between winning and losing.

Mayo push up, Dublin push forward and Cluxton goes long, it's just that simple really. Are you really going to push up and let Dublin have a run at you in behind.
