I would agree with you and add it was a very exiting game played at high intensity- what do some poster want or what have they been watching over the last 12 months. Though it was a definite black card and McCauley should have went also along with AOS. AOS's goal should have been allowed. Near the end of the match when the Dublin were 2 points up Higgins went on a solo run and was clearly fouled in a scoring position, which resulted in a point at the other end. AOS need to learn how to pass the ball and also stop kicking to the corner flag- was the cause of loosing lots of possession. The game is there for either team the next day and I would expect Dublin to be better at the frees and I expect Mayo not to concede 2 own goals. browncows (Meath) - Posts: 2342 - 18/09/2016 19:36:59 1915805 Link 1 |

MDMA and Connolly should've had early showers. Having said that Mayo were bottling it once they got inside the Dubs 45. They also made hard work of working the ball in. Unfortunately for them I can't see the Dubs being as beatable the next day as they were today.

Thought Dublin played to their full potential whereas Mayo have plenty to work on and must improve the next day to win Sam bert09 (Meath) - Posts: 1792 - 18/09/2016 19:49:34 1915819 Link 0 |
We had the lead before your first goal Condorman, though I know what you mean. Mayo were the team who got most right on the day, though our lads made loads of mistakes. Dublin have one very accomplished game plan and will rely on improved execution the next day out. Mayo will have been improved by today, and will look to apply the lessons. Am sure Dubs will be clear favourites the next day too and we'll have no problems with that.

It looked a great game from 314 in the Lower Cusack. Looking forward to seeing on the player. Intensity, good scores, big hits, mistakes but some commitment shown by both sets of players in poor conditions. Dublin are favourites on the 1st but considering many thought we'd be doing well to be within 10 points at the end, we'll go again and hopefully our forwards can find their shooting boots. Started the game supporting Dublin (nothing personal Mayo, family connections!) but by the end I was roaring on Mayo. We're Dublin playing volleyball or what? Horrible stuff. That said, they played terribly and I don't think Mayo will get a better crack at them. festinog (Galway) - Posts: 3097 - 18/09/2016 20:27:48 1915840 Link 0 |
Dublin failed to kick a score for the first half hour and were generally outplayed for the 70+ minutes. I thought that they would be there for the taking today but I didn't expect them to be as bad as they actually were. Mayo should have capitalised. Dubs full back line is weak, Mayo will need a goal the next day and should look to exploit same. With the stakes so high and being a replay I'm expecting a tasty encounter. Fancied Mayo today but think Dubs will edge the replay. Sidenote Should Brogan be dropped? JammyDodger (Meath) - Posts: 306 - 18/09/2016 20:29:04 1915843 Link 0 |
Thought it was a fascinating game which had a bit of everything. The standard of play was poor at times but the rain and slippery conditions were big contributors. It would have been easy for the referee to give frees for every suspect tackle but he gave the benefit of the doubt to the tacklers and was consistent. Of course he didn't get everything right but the decisions he got wrong didn't decide the outcome. He kept control of the game and didn't try to be the players friend, unlike the linesman near the end who looked as if he wanted Dean Rocks autograph. If it's a dry day for the replay it should cut out a lot of mistakes and make for a better spectacle. The Dubs are still favourites but Mayo will take heart from discovering they are not that far away. We have a poor record in replays but Tomas O Shea says the team that learns the most from the drawn game will win the next day. Hope Rochford and the lads play the video over and over and........... Even though we were 3 points up coming into the stretch (our usual peak period) I feel we were blessed to get away with the replay. Many here before the game said for mayo to have a shout a couple of dublins best players would need to have an off day. They got that and more. Just HAVE to think Dublin can't be that bad again but we'll see. DNS16 (Dublin) - Posts: 53 - 18/09/2016 20:53:46 1915867 Link 0 |
O'Connor is a lovely footballer but he has one serious problem trying his hardest to get players sent off. In added time an accidental clash of heads and O'Connor badgered the Ref to have something done about the Dublin player, he kept it up for a full minute and half, even got a few deserved slaps of it. Disgraceful, as I say a lovely footballer but one seriously flawed attitude. arock (Dublin) - Posts: 4898 - 18/09/2016 20:58:09 1915873 Link 2 |
Who said Dublin were unbeatable? Media of course. They are giving an opinion, simple as. No team can control what is said about them in the papers or on social media. Example Bernard Flynn ripped Dublin on radio last Sunday but went for mayo in the print media yesteday.

That Mayo team are battlers rather than bottlers.Still they didn't win today when clearly the better and more motivated team.Hard to think Dublin will play as poorly the next day. endgame (Roscommon) - Posts: 2171 - 18/09/2016 21:10:09 1915890 Link 1 |
First of all, Wish all the mayo fans a safe journey back home tonight/tomorrow morning. waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13650 - 18/09/2016 21:13:43 1915892 Link 2 |
Well said Wayno, Dublin were just flat today for whatever reason, it can happen and Mayo are very unlucky not to have Sam tonight, though strangely they were never in front despite playing better,I think a draw was a fair result,I think Dublin will win the replay, mc Manamon should go back to being super sub and Andrews should start. Glad to have another game to look forward too,Mayo missed their chance today though in my opinion. TirChonaillabu2 (Donegal) - Posts: 344 - 18/09/2016 21:26:43 1915901 Link 0 |

Take that back,Mayo were 2 points to nil up at the start, the own goals were the strangest thing I've ever seen in a game, just watching them on the SG, maybe the curse is real after all. TirChonaillabu2 (Donegal) - Posts: 344 - 18/09/2016 21:41:01 1915912 Link 0 |
I was watching game in packed bar abroad but I could have swore that Bastick lifted that ball off the ground right at the end? Adler (Monaghan) - Posts: 754 - 18/09/2016 21:43:15 1915913 Link 0 |
Condorman you can't complain about the black cards MDMC & Connolly should have gone in the 1st half as well as McCarthy MDMC should have got a straight red for his head high tackle O Shea gets nothing belted around all game and then he gets a card for a so so tackle Dublin were more than just lucky today
