Replying To Liamwalkinstown:  "Played like that, two heroic teams, managers with balls, supporters enthralled, no dirty digs no bullsh*t. Football like this is a beautiful beautiful game. Well done dublin well done kerry. Pride in them all both teams. One and all. Drunk and proud. Proud of our game. The greatest game in the world........ Hic......."
You might have something there. Just like in a bar you drink 'til she is beautiful, same with Gaelic football drink 'til it's beautiful, it's about all one could do with this crap or so called sport .

Replying To Bosco1937:  "Just because Dublin were challenged doesn't mean it was beautiful. We would have seen the exact same thing as Dublin vs Donegal if not for cluxtons two mistakes.

I'm really disappointed with Kerry. Taking Geaney off for Marc O'Se is one of the most negative substitutions I can remember.

Dublin have almost gone like Barcelona with Xavi, Iniesta and Messi. Team won't actually come out and attack against them, which means you have to hope for a perfect defensive performance.

Dublin aren't as good as Barca relative to the competition and I think Mayo should go out and attack them rather than sitting back. That said, fair play to dublin. They are setting the standard by playing the best and most positive football."
Won't attack? Kerry scored 2-14? That wins most games these days. I though they played well and executed their gameplan superbly and were 3 points up coming in to the last 10 minutes, after a huge effort to get in front again after Dublin levelled. They ran out of steam completely at this point, just watched it back this evening and the amount of Kerry players out on their feet was very noticeable. Dublin have better athletes and pulled away, predictably I suppose. We were fairly unlucky with some of the officiating as well in that second half but I'm not going to go into it as it has been covered ad nauseun for the past two days and nobody want to hear it.

Please do note we were also missing our best forward, who looked about 50% when he did come on. We simply can't afford to be without a player like that. Anyway your assertion that we didnt attack Dublin or have a go is absolute nonsense. Kerry did the best they could and almost pulled it off. I don't think you can ask any more.

Replying To Green_Gold:  "Great match yesterday alright but Dublin and Kerry did serve up a forgettable final last year. Generally games between the top sides are good ones, especially with so much at stake. To be fair to Dublin they play great football and have been involved in a lot of great games in recent years. I really think gaelic football is great to watch, even if too defensive at times. Games like soccer are really boring when compared to gaelic football, not much happening for most of the game."
Yes and no. The pace of movement required and the strategic thinking involved is fascinating. The massed defenses, the cynical fouling and sledging and the failure to adequately reward accurate kick passing and high fielding is a pity.

Watching as Kerry took a short kick out and ponderously passed the ball sideways and backwards until an open of note appeared is interesting but you can't help wondering what might happen if defenders weren't able to do as much horsing, rooting and staffing. Games decided by long range point kicking alone, imagine that?!!!

I don't think I'd actually like a game decided solely by long range point taking.

For a start if long range point taking was better there'd be less blanket defence than there is now as they'd have to push out more.

A game right now with 2 teams trying to win by long range point taking would involve a tonne of crappy wides.
