I remember back in 2001 the entire North Intermediate Championship was played over Christmas to the new year. Think I played a game every second day and the county final was a draw with the replay the following day as it was a draw. Replay even went to extra time!!those were the days!!"
Mother of god Wildpundit. I watched Moycarkey against Burgess in a county intermediate final over Christmas a couple of years later. It was the first game of hurling I ever watched. I felt sorry for the players being asked to play in a muddy/waterlogged pitch.

It's complete dissrepect and fear of the footballers. Barry O'Brien wouldn't allow this to happen. Sure the walkover to Fermanagh in 2004 was after similar shenanigans.

It was and actually in 2004 we were pretty solid as a football side. Fermanagh made it all the way to the semis that year!!
Our U21 hurling championship suffers badly too lads playing in December it's awful.

Yeah we had a very good team that year. It took some courage by them to take a stance against county board they way they did.

I find it Ironic that it's a Fermanagh poster who is having a go at us over this considering they benefitted some much in 2004.

As they say, eaten cake is quickly forgotten.

Its up to the players involved to take a stand here.
GAA players are always banging on about how their club is the priority, so let them prove it, and line out for their clubs, and to hell with what the county manager says, and if they get removed from the county panel, then so be it.
Failing that, they should at least admit that playing on a big day in Croker on TV means more to them than representing their clubs.

I hear what you are saying. I think the footballers are annoyed cos they are being asked to play in intermediate hurling matches before the biggest game in Tipp football in 81 years.
