Yew tree I don't rate Kevin Keane I think he's a weak link for Mayo, surely Barrett is a better option ? clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 19/08/2016 13:24:34 1903195 Link 0 |
Rumours around the county are that there is a big crowd going to travel on Sunday. Lot of people saying they normally wouldn't cross the road to see a modern day game of football but like the way Tipp play. Joe_Bloggs (Tipperary) - Posts: 186 - 19/08/2016 13:33:49 1903200 Link 0 |
I don't think Chris Barrett is big enough for full back. I think Kevin Keane is always remembered for that final against Donegal which is a bit unfair. Mayo have improved defensively since then. I think leaving your full back one on one against a big full forward spells trouble. That said I wouldn't be surprised to see a change or two from that team that is named. You will notice Regan and Dillon have also dropped out.

There'll be at least one change to that team by 3:30 p.m on Sunday. I wouldn't be surprised if Barry Moran was brought in to sweep in front of the full back line or as a third midfielder. Parsons has surely got to be brought into midfield also

Well i sat down last night and watched tipp against galway again eveyone talking about how good tipp was and i am not saying otherwise they were good but nobody said how poor galway were they were giving them far to much room and that wont happen against mayo eveywhere they look there will be pressure on them they will be forced into shooting from distance hopping for a result so for me mayo will win this game with a few to spare and a good few of the bench to get a run mayo_123 (Mayo) - Posts: 240 - 19/08/2016 14:25:19 1903221 Link 0 |
Barrett isn't big enough to mark to mark Quinlivan or Sweeney. I would have liked to try Vaughan at full back. He's tall enough to break any high ball that came in but would be comfortable following Quinlivan outfield when needed. As people have said though, there will be one or two changes to that team before throw in. MayoDan (Mayo) - Posts: 420 - 19/08/2016 15:51:45 1903261 Link 0 |
Think this really has the potential to be a cracking game, Mayo will undoubtedly start as favourites but 9/2 on Tipperary is a great price, well worth a punt. I hope Tipp get plenty of support as well, I know they're a Hurling giant but to be fair they play a good positive brand of football that's well worth getting behind. They beat what was in front of them. No matter that Galway weren't great on the day, Tipp played some great ball and beat them well. A team that was in it's first All Ireland quarter final, young, very fit and fearless. I think Kearns is a very good manager and will have more plans other than the Quinlivan one. How good are our defence really ? Galway, Fermanagh, Kildare and Westmeath made good inroads into it. I expect Rochford to have us well-prepared and avoiding complacency but no more than a 2 or 3 point win.

Looking forward to this one, be interesting to see the match ups and how the teams will approach the game. This should be a lot more open than Mayo's last game V Tyrone as Tipperary like to be expansive and have played some great football to date. As a complete neteural I don't have a preference on who wins and would be happy to see either team contest the final but like most I think that Mayo's experience will get them over the line but Tipperary will put it up to them. If anyone from Kerry needs tickets for the final, I've got Tipp connections ;-) JayP (Dublin) - Posts: 1772 - 19/08/2016 17:34:38 1903299 Link 0 |
Suppose it's hard to see anything but a Mayo win but I think Tipp will give them a good game, and if Mayo are off the pace or a bit complacent then they could very well be beaten, Mayo by 3 or 4 points if they play well. TirChonaillabu2 (Donegal) - Posts: 344 - 19/08/2016 20:44:30 1903364 Link 0 |
Heard Fromm man in the know that there will be approx 50,000 in croke park Sunday. If true that's incredible. Safe traveling to all fans. Up Mayo yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11236 - 20/08/2016 11:04:10 1903466 Link 0 |

I think Evan Regan will probably start this game. Just because he will be suited to the type of game that most expect it to be.Fast and reasonably open. He wouldn't have played well starting against our own backs so I think he was help back but we shall see.I do hope he features , exciting player when he's the space , not the most physical in size but has a bit of a young Gooch about him. Also hope Diarmaid O connor is fully fit would like to see if he has a good game. Didnt really get into the game against us , wondered if he was actually 100percent for that. Hope to see Quinlivan with plenty of ball and see what he's really made of against a top team. Another thing to note.It will be strange to hear the commentator mention Ciaran McDonald in a Mayo game , although on the other side this time.I'll half be expecting to see the older legend on the pitch hitting balls with the outside of his foot.I don't think I can recall Mayo ever having such a fine player since. Good luck to all concerned. Hope it's a great match. I hope Tipp win, as they're Munster... but... I wouldn't fall out with anyone over a well fought Mayo victory. plike (Kerry) - Posts: 569 - 20/08/2016 14:30:12 1903548 Link 1 |

Just watched the Mayo team training in Naomh Olaf. Doesn't seem to be any injuries. Everyone of note took part.

Did you have to climb a tree like the Donegal lad did a few years ago down in Kerry ?

Nope. Didn't even know they were training to be honest. Popped over to collect something and there they were.
