Tipperary v Mayo

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Im hoping every year that Mayo will win the all Ireland and now we are playing them. Suppose if a team is going to beat us let it be Mayo. Let's be honest Mayo are way better equipped to make it a good all Ireland against Kerry or the Dubs, I just feel if we some how did beat Mayo it would be a very one sided final.

It's tough at the top Jack!

Good to see you back pal.

Mayo for Sam wha!

Has the potential to be great, high scoring game. I think Mayo will be too street wise. The only time we faced a team with this kind of experience and guile this year was Kerry and they beat us comfortably, stifling us by fouling guys 60 yards from goal.

Mayo have the experience, Tipp have the exuberance, this could be closer than the odds think

I think the 5 point handicap is about right.

If Mayo play to their potential then they should win comfortably. Mayo were awful vs Galway, but they have improved in every game since then. Their defence has improved, Kevin Mc is growing into the sweeper role, their big name players are all performing well and one thing that we have that we didn't have last year is a bit of tactical nous on the sideline (our plan to counter Tyrone was impressive).

Of course the usual caveat, if we think it's just a matter of showing up and winning the game, then of course Tipp could catch us out, but I'd like to think that Mayo have had enough bad experiences at this stage to not be so foolish!

Well done Tipp on getting to the semi final outstanding achievement and their the story of this years championship but without being harsh on them they've no chance against Mayo. Mayo will win comfortably and if they keep getting to finals eventually they'll win one, surely?

This is a tough one to call, tipp won't fear mayo and they will just play ball for 70 minutes and see where it leads them.
Mayo are improving in every game and Stephen rochford will be glad for all the games to get to know his team.
Best of luck to both teams , I think it's gona be a good one.

An unusual pairing for a semi final. Tipperary have been the story of the football championship so far. Similar to when we played Fermanagh in 2004 and if you remember we needed a replay to get over them. I think this is a much better team than Mayo 2004 but Tipperary are very good and play great off the cuff football.

If Mayo keep improving and we play like we know we can, I except us to win it. If we see a Mayo performance like Westmeath 2nd half or Fermanagh then Tipp will be heading to the final. My own opinion is that Mayo are sitting in a good place right now.

Mayo will of course be glaring favs for this..

Tipp have nothing to lose and they should approach the game in that manner

If Tipp keep the heads up and are still in it with ten to go then they could pull off a shock. Thought Mayo deserved the win at the weekend but their attempts at keepball were beyond suicidal, and they coughed up several chances to chuck it away against the 14 men. They'd want to be more ruthless which is the criticism which has been levied for many years so I hope its their year, but suspect some of the old failings are there to scupper them.
