Kilkenny v Waterford

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

What Waterford threw at Kilkenny in those two games was unbelievable so why is that some people are saying Kilkenny are slipping. If that performance from the cats today is only average and how to beatable they are and so on I'd hate think what will happen Tipperary or Galway if Kilkenny step it up another notch as they seem to have done from the start of the Championship.

Another Cracking game.Waterford have come a long way from that hiding v Tipp and will be bitterly disappointed at losing that game having played so well.Hope they stick together and come back stronger next year.

last weeks draw was built up as a day when the cats simply didnt play, but the fact that Waterford ran them soooo close again should give hope to tomorrows victors.
Still though, to those who keep on going on about how poor the cats are compared to the past, they are now just one win away from the three in a row."
Hope Galway can win it now. Hurling needs a new champion. I don't mean the actual game is boring but it's boring seeing the cats there year after year. I think Tipp or Galway can beat them in the final

What a game these two teams produced it had everything you want from a hurling match, skill, great scores, hard hitting, passion ( including the sideline ) you just couldn't keep your eyes off it. Waterford will be back better for this granted this was a missed chance for them but mcgrath and players will learn and bounce back, hurling needs someone else to win but credit to cody and kilkenny there some team.
The picture in the indo sums up whats great about our game respect.

Please folks enough with the moral victories for Waterford, been hearing that since 1998. Kk were the better team and deserved the win. I said last week if the Fenellys Reid and hogan up the gears, kk would win. Their intensity and work rate was phenomenal. I do feel fennelly will be a huge loss for final.

The great myth about thurles being a home ground for Waterford worked well I
Must say

To make a statement "hurling is boring" is ridiculous. I might accept a statement "the same result is boring"! Still, it's not Kilkennys fault they have raised the bar so high in skill and mentality. The game is now played at an intensity of pace and skill, particularly by Tipp, Waterford, Clare, Galway & Limerick, thanks to the approach of Cody & Co. The gap is closing in on Kilkenny this year and when they are beaten the game will be in the best place it's ever been. Would love to see Galway go all the way but I believe Tipperary are the most likely team to have grasped what Kilkenny are all about and can see them claiming the 2016 All Ireland. That said, I could be wrong.

We definitely rode our luck in the first game but last night I thought we could and should have won by more.

Tipp should be licking their lips at the prospect of playing Kilkenny. I think they'd have a great chance of beating them. Galway, though, I wouldn't have as much faith in. They don't seem to be able to beat them and I wouldn't be surprised if there's a psychological advantage there for Kilkenny at this stage. I fear another Galway/Kilkenny All-Ireland final would just end in another easy Kilkenny win.

Great game last night and Kilkenny in their 16th final out of 19 but I wonder if Kilkenny were put into the Munster championship how many All Ireland Finals would they play in, I'm afraid the Leinster championship is useless, now and again Wexford , Dublin or Galway make a big effort but Kilkenny nearly always wins out, put them into Munster and see how they would do

We are sick and tired of people saying if we were in Munster,we are not and we still beat the best that comes out of Munster.

What annoys me about the GAA hurling is the 2 main grounds are Thurles (Tipp) and Nowlan/Croke park (Kilkenny).
Galway never get a match in Salthill or Waterford one in Walsh park it seems. If Galway and Waterford played all their matches at home they would win a lot more All Irelands!

What are you on about?

1. When was the last time Kilkenny played a "home game" in the All-Ireland?
2. Nowlan Park does not get many All-Ireland matches played there, one every other year, if that.

Oh this old chestnut about the magic of Munster hurling. Fact is, with the obvious exception of Kerry, Cody's Kilkenny has beaten EVERY Munster county in an All-Ireland final at least once (Tipp*3, Cork*2, the rest once each), and beaten EVERY Munster county in an All Ireland semi-final at least once (Waterford*5, Tipp*3, Cork*2, Clare*2, Limerick*1). Cody's record against Munster teams is actually pretty phenomenal. I guess Munster teams must leave their magic behind them when they step outside the province.

Same old, same old. You NEVER give Kilkenny a second chance because you will ultimately lose. Waterford had them on the ropes last week and couldn't put them away and paid for it yesterday. Two great games though and the hurling gap is not as big as the boring football one.
