Replying To CroiGorm:  "Also, how do you expect people to 'go to the game' when tickets are like gold dust?"
yep tickets in croke park last weekend really were like gold dust werent they?..the place was bloody empty...people are tired of the moaning about sky...they show very few games in a small package...find a place to watch them...a good broadband connection and u can stream them online either...people forget that a lot of county games arent shown on tv at all

No. You can put your name on a list but doesn't mean you're guaranteed a ticket. Each club is allocated a certain amount. They're not allocated 1 for every member.

All Ireland QFs are effectively the equivalent of AI Semi 20 years ago so they should be on terrestrial tv. This is third year in a row that Donegal AI quarter final will be on sky on saturday evening.

You are aware this game is already a sellout aren't you? That hours after they went on sale the Gaa confirmed no more could be bought online, from Super Valu/Centra or from the ticket office on Dorset Street.

What has last weekends attendance and availability of tickets got to do with this weekends games?

I doubt very much if this game will be a sell out. Granted the limited number of tickets they put on sale at the weekend were snapped up, but there will be more tickets available towards the end of the week when the County boards/ season tickets etc. receive their allocations during the week. I'm sure it will be a huge crowd, maybe up on 80k, but not a sell out.

Replying To Lockjaw:  "A narrow-minded and ignorant post.
Speaking for myself, I rarely used to miss Donegal games. But since my daughter was born priorities have obviously changed. This Saturday my wife is working and we don't have grandparents/relatives living near us who can easily baby sit. So I won't be travelling to Dublin nor will I be further lining Rupert Murdoch's pockets for the sake of one game. I won't be bringing my daughter to a pub either just so I can watch it."
Good post Lockjaw man.

I've watched less games since Sky came on board. Similar to the situation you outlined and I don't want to take the girls to the pub.

The ticket office on Dorset St was only open today for Parnell Pass holders and club tickets.

Replying To yew_tree:  "It's a difficult one as not everyone can travel to games. Personally it does not effect me but it has effected my parents. I know people who are carer's, looking after a sick relative at home etc. People in nursing homes? The argument that "ah sure them games weren't on 25 years ago" is a bit like saying people shouldn't have internet access or a telephone line. This is 2016."
exactly proving the point yew tree in this day and age its in the minority people havnt the access to sky. be it through a stream sky go app neighbour/family member with sky, local clubhouse or pub subscribe themselves or get a dodgybox.

its a sense of entitlement too Leitrim Carlow Wicklow antrim etc are very rarely televised how do the elderly in those counties manage why arnt their games televised too and where were are these great gaa people up in arms when the league been on setanta for years they probley didn't even notice as didn't tune in to league

sorry croi but I was talking the year as a whole attendences have been poor and this sellout is a one off as it has the 4 best supported counties in country facing off. 29k for hurling qf and the likes shows tickets are easy come by in general.

Probably only for Parnell Pass tickets. Club tickets won't be issued until tomorrow as far as I know, but even so I'd imagine tickets will become available later in the week to the general public.

Posters with Sky are being very patronising to those who, for one reason or another, don't have it. Are the GAA encouraging parents with children to go to pubs to watch games? Interesting!

Why can't the GAA have a deal with SKY were they show whatever games the like in the UK but RTE & TV3 battle it out for the TV rights in Ireland? The GAA shouldn't be about profit, it should be about participation.

I really enjoy the sky coverage myself and would love to see them continue showing matches but I think these kind of games should be available here on free-to-air. There are elderly people who can't go to pub and don't have Sky, not fair on them.

what about the elderly supporters of louth carlow Leitrim Wicklow whos games are televised once in a blue moon how is that ok but all the bigger counties have to have all their games shown on free to air all the time.

no there encouraging people to bring their families to games and enjoy a day out and see the gaa live in the flesh as its the best way to watch a game and to get kids into the sport.

There was a woman ahead of me in the queue picking up a package of club tickets.

No it is not fair. I think all championship games should be televised, Longford v Monaghan should have been. I think you are missing the point though, should sky have exclusive access to the big games? It makes no difference to me as I go to all my county's games and have SKY tv but there are some folk who don't.
