Dublin v Donegal

Replying To uibhfhaili1986:  "I burst out laughing after Kilkenny claimed that great catch in midfield and then proceeded to sprint as fast as he could with the ball back towards his own goals.

Dublin were only taking the piss today, the only trouble they had in todays match was the trouble they caused for themselves and they won't be so sloppy again.

The continuous keep ball from Dublin is Donegals fault as they decided not to pressure them into having to do something with the ball.

Ciaran Kilkeny was pure class over 50 possessions in a game of this magnitude and he was directing things like an basketball point guard.

The only team who will beat Dublin this year is Dublin."
There has been a lack of a top quality team since '09. It's hard for anyone to look past the 4 Regions on form. Next up for them is a rural county from the southwest of Ireland.

Whoa that's deep dude! Can Dublin really lose to Dublin at some point? Now I know what the Kerry guy is on about with the 4 regions thing.!

I hate that phrase . Its ridiculous. If kerry or mayo beat dublin THEY beat them . Not Dublin themselves. If a team loses a match for any reason eg over confidence , lack of discipline , etc then the other team beat them for not making those same mistakes.

I think you understand what I'm saying.Dublin can only lose if they seriously under perform, none of the teams left are close to them

Well Dublin are a top quality team and Donegal in 2012 were a great team as well.

O'Garage gone for the rest of the championship because of that as he will be reported for striking.

You're entitled to your opinion. I wouldn't rate in the same bracket as the great champions from '96 to '09. The County Dublin team in the mid 70's were great alright.

Ref only called one of them, the other was the umpire. Plus one was off the ball and the other wasn't.

They just got the Murphy one wrong.

Should've been red in my book.

I didn't realise it until the 2nd replay.

Congratulations Dublin, still the best team in the championship. Any other team would have folded with the sending off's and dour opposition.

Hard luck to Donegal, thought our lads showed great heart and great 'control' as Jim says.

"Folded with the dour opposition"

That makes no sense whatsoever!

Why would they fold if we were so dour?

Congrats to Dublin. Better team on the day. There was a chink of light for us with 20 to go but we just couldn't get closer than 3. Us needing to push forward and the legs getting tired resulted in the concession of that goal. Proud of our lads. Great effort by all. Good luck to Dublin going forward, that game will bring them on.

Watching it you couldn't help but feel both teams got what they really came for - dublin a comfortable win, donegal a respectable scoreline. No doubt he is targeted but Connolly must be getting close to being too big a risk to start.

Agree. The lad needs to cop on at this stage.
Ya keep falling into the same trap time after time after time after time well then ya can take your medicine.

Disagree completely. If dublin are better theyll win unless have really bad luck. I dont buy underperforming. Kilkenny hurlers never do it. You play as well as an opposition let you.

Make no mistake Soma Donegal did not want to make the score line respectable, they wanted to WIN.

Proud of the lads.

A few fresh legs, I.e C. Thompson, S. Mc Brearty, C. Gillespie, Eoin Ban and this team will be raring to go next year.

Fair play to Dubs, better on day. Young Kilkenny really stood up when counted. Not easy thing to do.

Good luck in semi.

What did people make of how David Byrne did on McBrearty? I know there are a few Dubs here who aren't sure about him. Thought be was outstabding today.
