David Clarke Mayo's goalie was sub keeper when we last played Westmeath in the championship. Is there many other inter county players who have been involved for 15 years or more. Mfs (Mayo) - Posts: 252 - 26/07/2016 13:27:54 1890368 Link 0 |
Dick Clerkin(Monaghan) and Mark Brehony(Sligo) are longest serving inter county players. Both playing since 2000. I don't think Clarke made championship debut until 2005 Gael85 (Dublin) - Posts: 1433 - 26/07/2016 14:31:39 1890416 Link 0 |

John Galvin played 15 years for Limerick footballers (1999-2014). What a shame he never won a Munster championship. M Lyster (Antrim) - Posts: 465 - 26/07/2016 16:01:51 1890484 Link 0 |
Some committment from those lads to still be going. A few of the Dongeal lads have been around a while. I think Toye is around the longest though. He made his champioship debut in 2002

Stephen Cluxton made his Championship debut for Dublin in 2001. The longest serving Dub by a long shot. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13725 - 26/07/2016 16:50:24 1890513 Link 0 |
When The Birmingham Six were released in 1989 after wrongfully serving 15 years in prison, their first question was to ask whether Martin Carney was still playing for Mayo. liner (Mayo) - Posts: 756 - 26/07/2016 17:06:00 1890533 Link 0 |
That's right. Christy Toye, Colm Mcfadden and Rory Kavanagh have all been part of the Donegal squad since 2001. I think Toye and McFadden played in the league relegation play off in 2001 and all three then made their championship debut in 2002. I honestly feel that if used correctly, Toye could play another 2 years for us as well. Mcfadden and Kavanagh will probably it quits after this year. And he won his first provincial playing for Donegal (was in in the middle of the field) when Donegal won their first provincial title.

Tony Browne 1991 - 2014 inclusive. Another man who should have pocketted a senior medal. He was "Mr Waterford" juniorjudge (Waterford) - Posts: 383 - 26/07/2016 20:50:42 1890645 Link 0 |
Noel O'Dwyer played for Tipp from 1968 - 1984. So he played in 13 of the 15 season spell where Tipp couldn't manage to win a Munster title never mind anything beyond. Killarney.87 (Tipperary) - Posts: 2513 - 26/07/2016 21:12:23 1890655 Link 0 |
Was there not a guy who came on in a final Kerry v Mayo who was 39/40 years of age - a mayo player (80's I think). Could any of the Mayo contributors confirm browncows (Meath) - Posts: 2342 - 26/07/2016 21:22:07 1890658 Link 0 |
Graham Gerathy must of had a long inter county career seen as he was still playing up to 38/39. clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 26/07/2016 21:33:15 1890664 Link 0 |
