As they say lies, damn lies and statistics.... based on statistics Leicester City should have been fighting relegation not winning the title. Its Tyrone they were playing too, the stats for their regular league games would be very different and they will be different again on Sunday. Against Tyrone the stat of having 11 different scorers and scoring something like 12 times from play is just as telling.

I would be quite weary of Armagh. They're a different animal in the championship and there's a lot of pride at stake here. Don't think that they will revert to the handbag stuff but the will be well psyched up for this one.

Long before my time but saw this on the rte website today, great footage of the 1978 championship meeting between Cavan and Armagh: GallantJohnJoe (Cavan) - Posts: 329 - 27/05/2016 15:57:46 1859383 Link 0 |
My goodness Armagh football has fallen a long distance in such a short time. The Armagh boys look a very demoralised bunch with no real direction or interest. I think Brolly is right. These boys don't look as if they are enjoying playing football. The entire county senior level set up, for all counties, is far too serious and detached now. Part of that last post that I did was not mine at all editor. Anyway I was very disappointed in Armagh today. They look handicapped in some sort of way. It's as if they're been held back. Cavan played very well but like last Sunday you've got to question the opposition. We are still waiting on a well matched pairing in Ulster championship. The semi finals should bring the cream to the top. border Gael (Monaghan) - Posts: 894 - 29/05/2016 18:01:07 1859766 Link 0 |
Cavan very impressive today. Tyrone will have a very tough game in a few weeks. Hard to beat a new team to arrive and compete. Donegalman (None) - Posts: 3830 - 29/05/2016 18:27:20 1859773 Link 0 |
Fair play to Cavan! They played well and were fully deserving of the win. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7873 - 29/05/2016 18:43:18 1859776 Link 0 |
Well done Cavan. Looking forward to your semi with Tyrone. Should be a cracker. neverright (Roscommon) - Posts: 1648 - 29/05/2016 20:10:31 1859798 Link 0 |
I thought Cavan were good.But impressive? I don't think so.Armagh were very poor,McGeeney has been a county manager for 8 years and has achieved nothing.He needs to go after this years championship. ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 29/05/2016 20:21:02 1859799 Link 1 |
Very decent performance by Cavan today, easily the better team who looked like they knew what they were at in comparison to the opposition. Would genuinely love to see our northern neighbours do well this year, their loyal fans and hard working gaels deserve to see success. On a side note I am of the opinion that the supposed aura around McGeeney is well and truly gone. He has had no success of note as a manager and Armagh have regressed under his control. Division 3 football, with due respect to it, is no preperation for Ulster football and judging by what I saw today I don't expect Armagh to make much impact in the qualifiers, I hope they prove me wrong as I've always liked Armagh but I can't see it. Cavan were the better team -fact cuchulainn35 (Armagh) - Posts: 1676 - 29/05/2016 20:58:23 1859819 Link 1 |
I think the Kildare fans and players would beg to differ. Under McGeeney they were a decent outfit; since he left they have gone into free fall. I don't think Armagh have the players anymore and that's their biggest problem.

Great result for Cavan dealing with with the favourites tag can be tough.Felt Armagh were ready to ambush Cavan but they were very poor. Jamie Clarke a big loss. salvador (Roscommon) - Posts: 439 - 29/05/2016 21:42:23 1859836 Link 0 |
I was impressed with how Cavan handled the favourites tag yesterday. We were very good for around 45-50 mins but that will not be near enough to overcome Tyrone. I thought Armagh were poor and devoid of ideas up front. Cambell was a real threat but wasn't getting any decent supply for the most part.
