Are Roscommon cynical under McStay?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Extremely cynical from roscommon. The number 23 or 26 who came on deserved a straight red as well as a good slap. I have no time for those sort of antics. Something seriously wrong with the rules if a team can get away with that without any sanction. Disgusting behaviour from some of their players

But I would say you say no fault in Tomas Corrs assault on Ros player last year?

Ye don't even wait for the national anthem.
Cop yourself on and worry about your own lot.
Must be bad up there when this bothers you more than Hylands obvious ineptitude.

Na only Nordie teams are cynical - I see even Antrim are getting ganged up on by Carlow and Wexford after beating them - just a pity Tyrone were not in Div 4 and then the spotlight might not shine on us so brightly - sore losers the pair of them.

I agree ronan daly acted like a fool on Sunday.every game he plays he's the same.if you watch the game back you will hear enda smith shouting "ronan what the hell are you doing" r but just because one player was at it doesn't mean roscommon are a cynical team. ronan is very young and is a brilliant footballer and im confident he will learn that he can't act like that .someone here posted that our number 10 fintan Cregg was very cynical but I can't see how he was.we have a young team playing in division one for the first time so we need time to learn how to be cynical like the top teams and not make it so obvious

Groan, some people are just non stop whingers. It's Gaelic football and at senior county level you're going to get a more physical. indeed cynical, edge. Antrim senior footballers used to get accused of not being physical or hardened enough to succeed and now we are being told we are too physical. I always thought sides like Mayo were too soft and you can see they have toughened up massively, likewise Roscommon. The Wexford manager should be a bit embarrassed at his own side if they are being roughed up by Antrim.

Listen to what Tommy Carr and Eamon O'Hara said about Roscommon after the Monaghan game and also referring to last year Fermanagh game RTE Radio 1 listen back 31/01/16 around 2hr 36 min into show. Tomás Ó Sé on League Sunday referring to Kerry game said "Roscommon were the team that looked the more experienced outfit closing out that game " . Are the Roscommon players learning at last??.

Here we go.....It's a sure sign that the Rossies are going somewhere when you see jealousy breaking out in other counties.....!!!!!

I was at the match and despite the rain, the tackling by Roscommon was fairly smooth and within the rules. There was a little messiness by both teams in the last quarter but I thought that Roscommon played a good brand of football...no way would I call them cynical.

Indeed KK and Kerry people would certainly know what cynical football looks like having watched their own side playing it for the good part of a decade.

Bit over the top to accuse Roscommon of being cynical..yes one or two examples in the closing few minutes but overall deserved the win and no more cynical then any other teams I have seen at the weekend. Hopefully they can build on the result for the rest of the league.

Seems like only teams that have been successful are being branded as cynical these days which doesn't surprise me.

More of a case of Roscommon joining the club...get tough/cynical whatever you want to call it or go home....you won't win anything these days by being nice.
I foresee a tough battle in Connacht this year.

agree, you win nothing by mean nice. No team is successful without a physical edge

If Kerry supporters who were at the match say Roscommon weren't cynical then thats enough to convince me they aren't

Yup. We give Tyrone plenty of stick (and rightly so) but Roscommon were no better. Yer man gets a tap on the chin in injury time and spends 5 minutes on the floor.
Hopefully Joe Brolly will pull McStay up on it come summer time, seeing as hes the only GAA analyst who seems to actually care about this type of thing.

nail on the head. Won't happen though. However if Tyrone do it the usual will happen. I think Tyrone supporters are getting used to it. Welcome to the dark side Rossirs.

Out of the 23 Ros players who played a part in Killarney only 2 could be accused of gamesmanship, when Tyrone play all 23 usually stand accused, thats the difference, its team policy with most northern teams.

Roscommon dont know how to play football, all they know is how to play dirty and win dirty.

They were too nice after getting the lead against Monaghan close the full time the previous week - now they're too dirty after winning against Kerry

Panunipa - You wouldn't care too much if your boys won Sam by either of those characteristics!
