Great result for Roscommon today and for Mayo as we'll probably now be in a relegation battle with Kerry. I saw enough improvement in Mayo against Dublin to think we'll be alright and we're definitely stronger than Down and Kerry. JamesH (Mayo) - Posts: 465 - 07/02/2016 15:43:52 1823056 Link 0 |
Still think the two teams that came up will go back down. gotmilk (Fermanagh) - Posts: 4971 - 07/02/2016 18:43:12 1823157 Link 0 |

After the first round of games I thought Roscommon were in big trouble but they've given themselves a chance with a great win down in Killarney. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13730 - 08/02/2016 10:30:50 1823339 Link 0 |
Unfortunately for Down, I think they are dead certs for the drop. Monaghan and ourselves got the results we needed to stay up. Roscommon will have another few massive performances and could also stay up. It will go down to the last day and depend on results around the country, and points differential. For that reason, I think that it will be between kerry and mayo the next day out who is in the fight for survival on the last day. If roscommon beat mayo, then they could be going down. Still wide open for the second relegation spot. I think Down are going but to be joined by one of Kerry, Mayo or Rossies. GAAHattrick (Dublin) - Posts: 278 - 08/02/2016 11:09:42 1823367 Link 0 |
Kerry and Mayo will probably both scrape to 4 or 5 points. pdempsey (Mayo) - Posts: 1313 - 08/02/2016 11:41:13 1823394 Link 0 |
Down play kerry at home next up and loser you would think our certs for the drop, with only the dubs at home also for down very hard to see them staying up, think roscommon will join them. Yourjoking (USA) - Posts: 708 - 08/02/2016 12:37:27 1823435 Link 0 |
3 wins would see you safe and frankly I don't see Kerry , Down or Mayo winning 3 games. Obviously all have to play each other yet but I'd say Down would beat Kerry as they seem to have their number in the past 60 odd years!!!I'd fancy Mayo to beat Kerry and Mayo to beat Down. Unfortunately for Down I see only relegation now. I think there will be as many as 4 teams on 6 points come the end of the league, so that would mean scoring difference would be the differential rather than head to head results. If that is the case, I see Mayo and Kerry being a vital game for either team, as Mayo have to play ross, who would love nothing better than sending them down to division 1. Neither Monaghan nor ourselves are home and hosed yet. I think either team could end up in difficulty as there are some stinkers of fixtures ahead. Cork should be grand, they fielded a second string team yesterday. The dubs will canter as per usual. Donegalman (None) - Posts: 3830 - 08/02/2016 16:34:17 1823611 Link 0 |
Has anyone gone down in recent past on 6 points OhtobeARossie (Roscommon) - Posts: 1764 - 08/02/2016 16:49:36 1823616 Link 0 |
Was thinking before the league started that having Dublin as one of your home games was going to put those teams at a disadvantage. They seem to be intent on winning "away from Croke park" (Mayo, Down and Roscommon) mhunicean_abu (Monaghan) - Posts: 1045 - 08/02/2016 17:17:20 1823631 Link 0 |
It's hard one to call at this stage, I think Dublin and Donegal are the only two sides who are 100% staying up. GaryMc82 (Derry) - Posts: 3017 - 08/02/2016 18:45:14 1823656 Link 0 |
Down haven't a hope of staying up so there the first team gone . TheRightStuff (Donegal) - Posts: 1688 - 08/02/2016 18:46:49 1823657 Link 0 |
We could go down sure but hopefully the three week break has come at the right time for us and get more of our regulars back. We can't soak up injuries as good as Dublin. Been a bad weekend all around as I watched my club loose an all ireland title sat evening against Kerry opposition again. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11250 - 08/02/2016 19:00:27 1823665 Link 0 |
It could very well depend on team selections for the final round of games. If, for instance, Donegal are already in the final they won't want to get into a dog fight with Monaghan in Clones. They might use the game to give fringe players or players returning from injury a 'run-out'. Likewise Dublin could use their game to give some game time to panel players. neverright (Roscommon) - Posts: 1648 - 08/02/2016 19:12:24 1823671 Link 0 |
