shaggylegend- Did you not know that clondalkindub spent little time at school and his geography is not up to scratch!. He may not be able to spell Ulster. Maybe he thinks that North of Ireland is in Derry!

Scotstown are good odds at 13/10 in Clones, would have thought this was at least a 50/50. They cantered through Monaghan championship. two years ago they were unlucky against Ballinderry who got to the All Ireland semi-final. Last year, as M Mc Gleenan said, success got to them

Crossmaglen v Cargin: Think this game will be closer than bookies suggest. Cross haven't really been tested, other than Maghery, Cargin set a real marker down in defeating perennial champions St Gall's. Fancy the Antrim men for a shock with the JB factor to shine through.

Naomh Conaill v Trillick: Trillick back in action at this level for the first time in decades. Outsiders in Tyrone, I really can't see them progressing against a seasoned Naomh Conaill outfit who I am near sure have a Tyrone man over them.

Kingscourt v Kilcoo: Home advantage won't be enough here, fancy the Down kingpins to edge this one, Johnston brothers will be too much to handle for the Cavan men.

Scotstown v Slaughtneil: This should be a real war of attrition. Will only be one or two in it either way, I think Slaughtneil are that wee bit more battle-hardened and defensively stronger. The Derry men to edge it.

Lol got some of my predictions way off!

Cargin looked like causing a shock against Crossmaglen and caused them all sorts of bother in the first half before eventually succumbing to the superior experience and know - how of the south Armagh men. Cross looked average at times and as the wheels came off for the Antrim men Cross simultaneously went in for the kill. A flattering, yet deserved win for the kingpins.

A bit of a minor suprise with Tyrone champions toppling Naomh Conaill. I had really fancied the Donegal men to win this encounter but it seemed lady luck was with the Tyrone men with a goal scored within 3 minutes, a man sent off for the opposition, their best player off injured after 13 minutes and a missed free to level the game right at the death.

Total football was order of the day when Scotstown overcame reigning champs Slaughtneil. The high scoring encounter suggests that Scotstown are serious contenders as the south Derry aren't really known for having a generous defence. A final place looms as one would expect the former kingpins at this level to have too much for Trillick in the semi final.

The other shock was not the result of the Kilcoo Kingscourt game but rather the manner in which the Down men won. By all accounts little of no resistance was offered by the home side as the Magpies set themselves up for a renewal of acquaintances with their foes of recent times Crossmaglen.

A lot of rain last night & today could affect those handicaps. Are clan na gael much of a threat ? Was thinking just to do castlebar to win, they looked good in mayo final or did that flatter them a bit ? Have no real knowledge of the ros club champs

It's a disgrace alright. Why wont they show a repeat of the st vincents v Ballyboden game? In fact why not show it twice tomorrow, incase anyone comes in late.

I don't have a whole lot of knowledge but I'm basing it on the following
1. Castlebar are scoring goals for fun
2. Contested a club all ireland final in the last 2 years
3. Clan na gael wouldn't of been favorates to win the roscommon championship and aren't the best team in Roscommon in my opinion.
4. Going how teams perform that weren't favorites to win their own county championship in the provincial championship (mullahorn v errigal ciaran a few years back hammered and kingscourt this year against kilcoo hammered)

Agree conditions will play a part.

Clann v Castlebar live on TG4 tomorrow.

I think its an uphill task for Clann against a experienced Castlebar outfit but Clann are not without hope of causing upset. G Petit who had a good county championship at full back will be tested to his max against the likes Kirby,Douglas or B Moran if hes moved into full forward. The Clann half back line of Jack Connaughton,Shane Petit,Fergal Lennon is their youngest line however all are good footballers with bright futures ahead. The midfield area of U Harney,D Shine,C Shine will have to be at their best if they are to win. Clanns full forward line of J Fahy,R McManus,J Dunning if given the right supply will cause damage.

Castlebar as been said already are scoring goals for fun Clann on the on hand haven't conceded a goal in their last three championship games. Weather forefast not the best but i hope its decent game.

15 for Castlebar the big tall fella is he worth a look at county level? I've watched him lately and he looks very good. Also should Castlebar's first goal stood? He took the free near the end line do you not have to bring it out to the 20 metre line?

No the goal shouldn't have stood as you can't take a quick free inside the 13metre line awful decision

He is already in the county set up, was a minor and U-21 as well if I remember correctly.

Clann will rue that nightmare start to the game tonight. 2-0 to 0-0 after 3 minutes and then Clann outscored Castlebar 0-13 to 1-8 in the remaining 57 minutes. Goals wins games as they say and that was certainly the case today. Hard luck to Clann a very young side that will be back.

Not sure how that goal wasn't disallowed. With 5 minutes to go Tom Cunniffe got away with a foot block on a goal bound effort. The Castlebar goals clouded over a fairly average performance i thought and they will unlikely score soft goals like that against Corofin in the Connacht final.

Plenty of potential in that Clann side both Shines played well and young Ultan Harney is a fine prospect.

Suppose so, it's unlikely to be Neil Douglas if he's on about the big lad.
