All Ireland HURLING final week - KK V GAL

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

It may not be Kilkennys strongest team, not by a long shot, but its still good enough to win the AI pulling up.
I have a good feeling about tomorrow I have to say, but I still wouldnt be surprised if the cats win comfortably.

Galway need a good start. A quick fire point or something. A goal would be great. They will be nervous and need a score to settle them. If they get a quickfire score they should do well. Also second half they need to keep hurling- as Kilkenny will get a goal sometime in the second half.

joncarter - The confidence coming from Galway folk is unreal - great to see.

I'm very similar to yourself - feel its a Kilkenny team there for the taking but would not be surprised to see them win.

However - I predict a Galway win and if they get going it could be 5+

Galway by 2, Kilkenny aren't the team they were, they keep winning because of the fear others still have of them

I wouldn't get worked up by Pat Illogical, cockney - he's obviously still hurting from 2007.

The idea that James Owens is sitting at home in Wexford worrying about what Eddie O'Connor says is laughable. Eddie's own family probably take what he says with a hefty pinch of salt.

Anyway, last I checked it was a free country - if Eddie wants the "game to flow", he's surely entitled to that opinion, is he not?!

Good luck to Galway. I hope they win tomorrow, Kilkenny have 3 players, who have not played in an All Ireland Senior Hurling Final previously, 2 in defence, and 1 in the forwards,

No. Only two of Kilkenny's team for today have not played in a AI Senior Hurling Final ; Shane Prendergast and Ger Aylward.

Conor Whelan still only 18 years - v few 18yr olds have played in let alone won in AI finals - Mattie McDonagh in 1956, Jimmy Doyle. Jimmy Duggan Galway was 19 in 1966.

Any other 18yr old finalists?

This is a hard match to call, the fact it is shows how far Galway have come. But I don't think they have come far enough to defeat Kilkenny, I'd love to see them do it I really would but I can't see this KK team losing this one.

Galway 0-14 KK 1-8 at half-time. We probably should be further ahead but still delighted with the attitude and intensity so far. Joe is flying and he is getting lots of good support up front. Whelan is a great bit of stuff. Johnny Coen should have been sent off in fairness.

Johnny Coen is very lucky to still be on the pitch. Red card all day long.

with all the technology in sport these days way do the sky and RTE the ball tracking thats used in Golf would help when try to watch the flight of the ball ,also why have Hawkeye technology if your not going to use it? Joe Canning request was turned down but surely they should be rules like in tennis or cricket that a team or player can challenge the umpires decision ,if Galway lose by a point or if the match is drawn then there will be a backlash again against the GAA for living in the dark ages.

Coen should have gone but Galway should actually be down to Thirteen actually. Pulling a helmet off by the Face Guard is also a red card. How the player didn't get sanctioned for pulling the helmet off Fennelly is a mystery.

Well done to KK a super team and a greta win, hard luck to Galway I am sure this team will win an All Ireland sooner rather than later. All that said two things, Ref had a very poor display in my opinion and it seemed like someone had a word at HT. But overall a very poor display he just seemed way out of his depth.

Who is going to take Kilkenny's crown? The best equipped are Galway, but itt is tough KK believe they are invincible and act accordingly, you just have to admire them.
