Fermanagh's first goal?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Quite clearly a push (frontal charge) on the keeper inside the small rectangle. Free out all day long unless your from Kerry or wearing white overcoats.

Quigley coming in for ridicule is very unsporting in my view. He did nothing wrong; the officials are the ones who should be spoken to.

Junior B standard.

Just another daft decision to go with a host of daft decisions all season.Never a goal. What hope have you when the officials don't even know the rules.

you sound very worried! and what about your manager saying he taught goalkeepers were not allowed to be tackled?

Claxton also charged him. Why should quigly be penalised if they both did it?

The goalie took a step directly into the incoming forward. Played for the free out and did not get it. Good call by the umpires, and ref.

The only other option the referee had was to award a penalty as the player in possession went directly towards the opponent and made no effort to avoid him. The Fermanagh player was under no obligation to yield the right of way.

@kerryluck. I'm a keen supporter of Gaelic Games and incidences like this with three officials watching is worrying, so yes i suppose i would be somewhat worried. The call was immaterial today, but it wasn't when Louth got robbed out of a Leinster Championship some years ago. And it won't be immaterial if it happens in an All Ireland Final either. In other sports with one referee its somewhat understandable but with two officials no more than three feet away its not good enough.

I'm unaware what Jim Gavin said, i was at the game so didn't see his interview, but irrespective of what he said, rule 1.7 (c) completely caters for the incident.

It was a pity goal

Let em have it

It was a ludicrous decision

If you did that at the side line you'd have a free against you

You can't push people in the net

Cluxton didn't charge, he had a fella on top of him who pushed him in the net

Arms extended and pushed, you can't do that.

But let them have it...

Dublin have bigger things to worry about

definite push. the ref should have called it. because he didn't, then the umpire should have raised the flag as the ball went over the line. as someone said worst decidion since joe Sheridan's try v louth. imagine if that was last minute of a game and it was the decisive score. what a shambles.

Im quite surprised that this is an issue in a game that was won comfortably. Fermanagh were brave and all that but they never looked like winning and the main thing that Dublin should be focusing on is their full back line and their midfield rather than if they should have won by 11 points rather thean 8. Seriously folks.

If you look he was offside too when the ball was played in.

Muck my point being that it's the refs and umpires job to apply the rules. Their job!! They should know the rules. And yes it happens week in week out and just because Dublin won it doesn't mean we shouldn't talk about it. ir what about the free count. 4 to Fermanagh 20 to Dublin. I think there'd in this occasion definitely tried to give Fermanagh a leg up something we've seen in other games too. I also believe the red was from Kerry. Just saying :)

Pushing someone is a free anywhere on the pitch yet it is often let go, why umpires / linesmen can't/ won't say the ball was over the line but the player was pushed is daft.
A keeper in the small sq can only be dispossessed when playing the ball and may not be shoulder charged

keepers are overprotected. We all want high scoring games so advantages should go to forwards

I think this incident will have Cluxton and to a lesser extent Dublin rattled for the semi/final! due to the coverage it's getting and will continue to receive. I can just see the FF lines of Donegal/Mayo and anyone else playing on this incident and giving it a bit of trash talk in his direction.

Agreed avantages should go to forwards, but come on pushing a keeper over the line cant and should never be allowed.
