Fistball isn't related to the game kerry played 30 years ago.

I agree Wexford. It was no contest. It reminded of a lot of the hurling matches I've seen this year especially Cork v Wexford.

Good grief. The games this year haven't been as close as we'd all like, but their still enjoyable to watch if you like hurling. Plenty to enjoy in today's game. Alot of wides in last nights games, but I still enjoyed them, and was glad to have inter-county hurling to watch.

If people were that bored by today's game, or the championship thus far in general, hurling might not be for them. In ways, it seems like people are now starting to watch both football and hurling games with the intent of being disappointed. The only thing I'm disappointed by is that there are only 5 senior inter county games of hurling left this year, I wish there was more.

Sweepers.... the ball travelling 100+M, Short puc outs, Nobody pulling on the Ball....its different. I watched 4 full games in Thurles over the weekend and only two goals scored and very few goal chance were made compared to the 'old' days. I mean its all down to a long range shooting match now... goalkeeper has himself and 1/2 sweepers and creates the quality posession for the shooter and it starts again ar the opposite end.... i enjoyed the games but IMO MOST TEAMS ARE overcoached and its not as exciting as it was even 2 years ago.

Preddan, that is one thing ive been saying for years. The sliotar is too light, and the game is all the poorer because of this.

Sums up how poor the hurling cship has been.A few years behind the football but it's gradually gone the same way in terms of teams nullifying the opposition. Cork, Clare, Waterford....three superbly entertaining teams over the years have resorted to extra men in defence. No easy fix i'm afraid.

football first, I agree that it looks like only two teams can win the hurling, But your kidding yourself if you think that anyone outside of Donegal, dublin or kerry can win the football. The tier system that is in hurling is alive and well in football too. And everyone knows that a 5 point lead in football is as safe as 12 point lead in hurling. So there is a lot more one sided games in fooball.

Hurling is indeed in trouble and that was the prospect before the championship even started. The matches in Thurles at the weekend confirms this. Unfortunately for Tipp they had to break from their traditional game to counteract the Waterford style. Cork have abandoned theirs also. Interesting to hear Donal Og Cusack laud JBM for changing their style. Cusack would have been locked on as a shrewd hurling man but he promotes this style no end. He's very quick to highlight over carrying etc but sees absolutely nothing wrong with the pulling and dragging going on with this new style. I just wonder will he be as enthusiastic should Tipp and Kilkenny adopt it and continue on their winning ways! Have no doubt but that those counties will embrace it if necessary. For the sake of hurling I hope they don't.
