Online abuse

ok a couple of points here. Abuse has no place in any thing in life much less sport.
No ref should have to take anything and the quicker we have zero tolerance in ABUSE OF REFS the better.. I dont mean a play giving out about a stupid call i mean purely abusing the ref and having personal digs,

Regarding players it should never be personal but unfortunately when a player speaks or does something wrong then social media is largely the only avenue to vent to that person. But again it should never be personal but purely in to the sports.

I despise a particular manager in the gaa .. I believe his conduct brings down the tone of the sports i love and he never seems to get the point that our sports are watched globally and not just by the people in his county .And i have made many posts regarding his conduct and his ability as a manager..

How ever i dont know the man personally for all i knw he could be the nicest person in the world so there fore my comments are only ever in relation to his actions with in the sport.. And i think thats where they should stay

First any abuse of an individual is wrong, be it verbal, online or whatever. But, people are rather naive, they have Twitter/Facebook accounts etc all with open access etc probably revealing personal details etc. Incidently I did a search on google just for my daughters full name and what I got back was quite shocking, phone numbers (land/mobile) email, twitter etc accounts, a picture (from one of her profile pics), an address, school, friends, clubs etc etc etc Just typed her first name. My long winded point is people need to be more careful, if you are a ref, player/performer your asking for trouble not taking simple precautions. I don't believe the perpetrators believe its personal but honestly at this stage if you don't try and protect yourself and you have a public profile you are liable to attract nutcases - plenty of them out there.
