A new proposal by the FAI led by high performance director Ruud Dokter to move all schoolboy leagues to summer soccer is a worrying development for both the GAA and soccer in my opinion. It will weaken both codes and the only winner will be the Rugby clubs who will have all the winter months to themselves. Delaney and co would want to realise that they are not Living in Scandinavia."
the GAA need to realise they are not living in a dictatorship either...all codes have the right to promote their own game as they see fit..Ime involved in soccer and have yet to see the GAA worry about schedules when it comes to facilitating other sports..is all "me me me" etc...

In my opinion it is a big mistake by the soccer authorities. The rugby crowd must be laughing to themselves. They have from October to March all to themselves now. Irish soccer made a big mistake years ago moving the League of Ireland to Summer. All they had to do was get their pitches in order developing all weather ect. Its time for the GAA and Soccer people to get together and try and organise separate nights for training and matches. This might be possible in single code counties like Dinegal and Mayo but dual counties like Limerick and Cork will be in big trouble.

Rugby wont have those months to itself. Irish Soccer clubs dont think agree with you on moving the league of ireland.
Why does it have to be just soccer and gaa who need to get together? its all sports. Counties that are more urbanised will of course have more issues than rural counties...

Thats FAI business, there looking after there own interests, why should they think about the GAA, there looking at ways to improve there own game and summer soccer might be to way to go for them

may just be the kick up the ole the gaa needs to start to look properly at club fixtures, as soon as soccer decide that it would be a runner they would have a rigid fixture list so families would know exactly which days games would be played, but the gaa fixture list is shambolic at the least, where nobody knows exactly when or if they are playing except the county players, so it's a never ending roundabout of training, maybe a challenge game here or there in what should be the ideal months of the year for playing games, and then a raft of fixtures banged in in the last couple of months and club championships run of like blitzes.

I am not so sure this is going to be a runner, summer in Dublin is regarded as holiday time you'd be lucky to field a tennis double team never mind a GAA or Soccer team in Dublin in summer months. The same reasons that players don't play GAA during the summer will also apply to soccer. Thats what happened when a sport has huge idle gaps in its playing season, players fill it with something else.

summer time is holiday time everywhere else as well, not just Dublin, and just because some kids may be on holiday doesnt mean you postpone a game.
