Tyrone Prospects

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

The Donegal match was the proving point Could have beaten Dublin and Cork (Derry match was a farce) if forwards could shoot but 6-8 short and 6-7 bad wides a match kills any team, When the first 3 points flew over with a bemused response there was no belief or spirit in the reponse except for about 10 minutes then collapse all self belief drained away. Mind you it seemed Murphy was let do a lot of bullying the ref should have stopped earlier but where was Ricey's bite? Gone. Tyrone are producing soft teams many of whom seem to think the world owes them a living. All the moaning about refs and Croke park and everyone wrong but us has a bad effect and we would want to stop it and stand on our own. Looks unlikely to happen

Too many Spice boys playing for Tyrone, with their fancy Bluetooth headphones and kit bags.

We are concentrating on the Scor for now, footballs to boring now for us artistic Tyrone folk!

On another note surely the performance wasn't as bad as Cork v Donegal in 2009? These things come in waves. We'll be back

I have to say I seen this coming from last year in Omagh there was no fight in them, I have seen Tyrone teams winning All Irelands and having a never say die attitude fighting till the death in all matches no matter what. I have 2 reasons why I think this is happening,

1st - I think that last year Mickey Harte should have left, the team needs a new voice and some new ideas, I no he has freshened up with changes in the backroom team but need a new voice.

2nd - I think Tyrone have a great squad and the footballers are stylish and can kick scores, but they don't have the likes of Conor Gormaly (could slow things down and could hit when needed), Peter Canavan (could score, but was cute in wee things that he done like winning frees) Brian dooher ( who didn't care about scoring just ran for the team) Ricey ( played on the edge and was hard to handle), Hub Hughes ( wasn't the greatest player but worked for the team and stopped other midfielders from playing. Plus what all these players had was leadership wen some1 wasn't playing well then some1 else stood up pulled them over the line, Tyrone players don't have that at the minute.

It can't be easy playing for Tyrone these days with a weight of expectation on the players shoulders to succeed at the highest level, especially when the quality just isn't there. Sunday was an off day for Tyrone. It's the league, it happens. They certainly aren't as bad as Donegal made them look. Donegal will be there or thereabouts come September. Tyrone on the other hand won't, but they are more than capable of a run in the qualifiers to the last 8, with favourable draws.

look write of Tyrone at your peril, look we where lucky, in that everything went ok on the day, and hi its only a league game in March, 7 weeks time will be a different game.a bit like Monaghan beating Kerry for the first time i believe since the 1980 s, and good lUCK to Monaghan, I DONT THINK TYRONE, OR Kerry will be too worried on a cold March day, now when you beat Tyrone, Kerry, Donegal, in August, well then you can shout about it, oh for me Cavan are the Dark Horses for Ulster. Sam, if not an Ulster team, then Dublin,or Kerry, Mayo????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????. DARK HORSES FOR SAM.

Much too early to write off Tyrone. Donegal played well last week but the spectacle against Monaghan a few weeks back had plenty of our own supporters on here writing us off too.

We all know that the League and the Championship are very different forums.
Look, DL badly needed that win and played well to ensure that. Mentally too, we looked ready from the off but Tyrone were not. Even the likes of the Cavanaghs were not really in it. Meeting the formidable and wily Sean Cavanagh in the Summer will be an entirely different proposition.

As others have said, signs are there that MH might no longer be the right man to be at the Tyrone helm but Tyrone themselves are no doubt building away. What they look to be lacking most is a bit of self-belief. They could've beaten Dublin had they had a bit more of that. I reckon their own supporters need to get behind them a bit more too and not write them off at this early stage. I am saying that as a Donegal supporter who has seen many the drubbing at the hands of Tyrone over the years. We respect Tyrone, we knew we had to bring our best game and we did.
I for one hope Tyrone do themselves justice against Kerry on Sunday (but more importantly, I hope the same intensity of performance is evident from DL in McHale Park, that the team step up without Murphy on the field to lead and that we can drive on from there ready to meet Tyrone again in May!)

To be fair to Tyrone, I was Impressed with some of their displays in the league this season. Superb win over Mayo, they should have won against Dublin, and they had a cracking game against Cork.

However they've been needing a fresh manager's voice and Idea's since 2011, and they the lack the grit and fight of the great Tyrone team of the Noughties.

I have great respect for Mickey Harte and all he has achieved with Tyrone over the years, and I don't doubt his tactical ability. However he is unable to Inspire this current crop of players in the same way he did with the 3 time All Ireland winners crop.

This isn't anything to do with his football knowledge or tactical knowledge, It is to do with Inspiring players and making them fight and play for you.

Are they going to be able to field a team?

This is all a ploy to suck Donegal into a false sense of security. The next thing we'll hear is that Sean Cavanagh is injured!! When it comes to the big game in Ballybofey the RED Hands will be ready to rumble!!

Honestly don't think Tyrone have a chance of winning anything for a while.
They have a serious problem the entire county hasn't spotted yet.
They play defensive football at underage and club level which means they are not producing footballers of a high enough standard.
They produce lots of hardworking players but no one of any real class.
You need class forwards to win titles.

Will be buoyed by the u21s win last week. I think that there is a lot for Tyrone to be optimistic about. I never write them off, and many of their senior players will be looking at winning ulster this year to retire on. A huge huge game, if they beat us they will be formidable this year.

Tyrone, for me,are the Kerry of the north.Since the 90s they have had some very successful teams from minor,U21 and senior.Lots of All Irelands were won.Their 3 senior Al Irelands in 6 years was a fantastic achievement.Beating Kerry in 2 of them made it all the better. The last 3 or 4 years have seen the senior team stagnate.Things, from the outside looking in,seem to have gone a little stale. After losing some of their greatest ever players like O Neill,Canavan,Dooher etca period of transition was inevitable.Micky Harte is a legend of the game but maybe its time for a new voice with new ideas.I believe Tyrone have a state of the art centre of excellence now.As we see with last weeks U21s win in Ulster, the conveyor belt sees no sign of stopping. They are down for the moment but i would expect that to change over the next 2/3 years.Big county.Winning tradition. They will be back.

The importance of the league is always hard to call but the performances against Mayo, Dublin, Kerry and Cork were good and could set them up for a good summer. Tyrone were relegated from Division 1 when they reached the All-Ireland Final in 1986 and were average in 2008 won three, lost three.
