RIP Rural GAA Clubs??

Rule in from next year.
From minor review group - While appreciative of the argument that some smaller Clubs may see a
requirement to play 17 year old players, enforcement of such a rule in 2016 will allow a lead in
period to actively retain players during 2015.

Glad to hear its from next year. At least the lads already training wont have to stop.
As regards amalgamation its a double edged sword. It suits some clubs and not others. I personally feel that the GAA should support small clubs as much as possible and if that means dispensations to allow 16 year olds to play then maybe it should be looked at. Perhaps in a situation where a club has less than 25 registered players.

Amalgamation of clubs is the answer to have a 15 a side team.

Amalgamated clubs could then play in a competition of 7,9 or 11 a side as individual clubs to maintain an identity and give players not making the main team a game.
