Looking forward to tonight . May have to be a little less vocal than usual, due to living in lake county. .
Ahh who cares.
Hon the Royal.

Be as vocal as possible royaldunne, some aul fella from Westmeath nearly blew the ears off me at the O'Byrne cup game back in January roaring about jelly and custard (don't ask me why) so we owe them one back!

Goal blitz at the start of the second half the differences between the two neighbours, Meath will know they won't score that amount of goals every game while Westmeath paid the price for kicking 10 wides in the 1st half. Cavan probably shot themselves in the foot when getting a man sent off in the first half with the wind but Kildare off the mark now and they should go on a run now.

Agreed Rossie, its anyones guess know although tomorrows games will give a clearer picture. A lot of eyes of Down v Galway now tomorrow in terms of promotion spots with the likes of Meath and Roscommon capable of benefitting. On the home front a much improved overall performance from Meath tonight who looked good when they opened the shoulders out however I will temper that by highlighting some pourous Westmeath defending, a win against Laois next Saturday night is vital for us to maintain momentum.

A few observations on last nights game, firstly what a performance by graham Reilly, truly outstanding, 1-5 from play, add a magnificent save from Connaughton to denying him another goal and you see what im getting at , the chip goal was a master strike. Also Stephen bray had a great game, keoghan was been his usual top notch self, negative has to be Micky Newman, at this stage its becoming a worry, from the man two years ago that so resembled Brian Stafford in his place ball kicking, he doesn't look like the same player. Hopefully its just still not fully fit from his injury. The game itself had entertainment, but some kamikaze defending from Westmeath at times , however Meath still have room for improvement which has to be the positive, last nights game was a proper old fashioned game of football, trying to outscore the opposition no blanket defensive set ups, now we will face them in games against Cavan Roscommon etc but id be hopeful that just like Kildare once we get our noses in front and they have to come at us we will finish them off. In midfield we badly need Gillespie and Rooney back fit, all in all you cant be but happy that we winning matches while still not at full strength. Well done to all . Hon the Royal.

Pretty much agree with that assessment, funnily enough I was talking to a friend the other day and we were saying that Graham Reilly doesn't get into enough goal scoring position! He must have been in the room listening!

He must have been ziggy :). Even the saved shot was perfectly placed, very few keepers would have got their fingers to it 19/20 its a goal.

Meath are average no where near a division one team.will not be promoted this year

mat (Mayo) - 06/03/2015 15:50:05

Meath may be average but they are doing what needs to be done and getting the results and may not be as good as division 1 teams but as of last two years are very close to coming through to div 1 so clearly not that far off the division. Better to be in div 1 and be getting to play the best teams than staying in div 2

Long way to go but I agree, would still rather be in dv1.

Meath need to keep going,Laois can be a funny side, but they need to win that one next week.

I think the two best teams are Galway and Meath in the division. I said all along we have to be promoted. And while its still only 3 games into the campaign for us i still feel we will be promoted, we still not playing to potential but getting victories, if we hit potential then its a done deal.

Down beating Galway was not a good result for Meath,Down have 6 points,Galway 4,Meath 4 but Galway have a game in hand,we also travel to Down, still would not have us down for promotion to be honest..

Galway threw away the win up in Down really. Led for virtually the entire match before getting caught deep into injury time. Tightens the division right up. We still have 3 of our last 4 games at home so not in the worst position despite today's setback.

Down result was a bit of a surprise but not too much. We beat Laois Roscommon and Cavan. Can still see that been enough for promotion, down will drop more points, so will Galway, not saying we wont. Just think we have enough games to get through.

yes,but I think we have to take it game by game, our record against Cavan is rotten of late and Laois have often been a bogey team

Things very tight now, didnt expect to be in second place on score difference after this weekend but wil happily take it, loads and loads of twists and turns to come in this division yet and I wouldnt put a shilling on any predictions for up or down just yet, as per usual league football is an unpredictable scene......

Very open division this year, most teams still in with a chance of promotion except Kildare who look doomed to Division 3.
