After looking at the table just now 1 thing struck me Westmeath are top after beating 2 leinster sides and the 3 remaining leinster sides are at the bottom having only 2 points between them and that was from Meath beating a leinster side.
So they may all struggle when faced with other provinces teams.
However Meaths new found love of 10 backs should make sure they keep the scores down when they are getting beaten maybe just saving them from the drop.

Surprised to see Roscommon being tipped for the drop as well . Think they'll be fighting the other end of the table myself .

Roscommon are a poor outfit Imo , and while Laois wont trouble them too much, i cant see where else they going to get points from, wmeath are coming from div1 Roscommon from div3, and apart from doing a Donegal 11 type of play against mayo, they have done nothing of note. 3rd best team in Connaught cant see where all the fuss is coming for them at all.

Roscommon were much further ahead of Down than the scoreline suggested when they met in Newry last month. I'd be amazed if they are involved in any way in the relegation battle.

Soma what does that say about Cavan? Who they drew with.

Roscommon may even be the 2nd best team in Connacht royal. Their panel has All-Ireland minor winners, senior club winners and lads who have played in u-21 All-Irelands. Sadly for all Meath people it's not the 1990s anymore - you would be foolish to think Roscommon are the same side as when ye were last relevant.

Nobody saying its the 90s and Meath are a division 2 team. Roscommon are nothing more than a average division 3 team. There irrelevant, wouldn't even be in top 16 in country. Oh and btw ill repost your post when the leagues are over and we will see how the mighty rossies are, :) sure we might even have another rossie day.

Aah the Meath arrogance it hasn't gone away, unfortunately for them they are not in the top fifteen anymore.I'd much rather be in galway or Ross shoes, they have talent whereas Meath have average club players

nothing more than a average division 3 team. There irrelevant thats Meath you are talking about royaldunne as the likes of fermanagh, tipp,Armagh would beat Meath if they played them next week.

As neutral I have noticed you have unhealthy hate for the rossies. Their improvement is down to a solid club football and very good underage sides something that Meath will need to improve on before your seniors fall even further.

Having to play five on the trot will have a major bearing on who goes up/down. Strength of panels will be severely tested.
At present there is very little between any of the teams in Div.2 All capable of beating each other, there will be lots of twists and turns before end of league. Meath have too win next two home games to have any chance of promotion, failure to do so and some posters may have their wishes granted

As i said over on our own site i don't understand where this confidence Royaldunne has about Meath seniors comes from?

For the record Meath were div 3 side in 2013 and Meath finished on 10 points that year thanks to two lucky wins against us and Fermangh we finished on 9 points.

We are a poor outfit/average division 3 team according to you even though we were promoted with two games to spare last year and won the league final. In comparison Meath weren't promoted out of div 3 until the final round of fixtures and lost the div 3 league final.

2011 Meath somehow avoided relegation to div 3 when you finished on just 3 points, no side will do that lucky escape with just 3 points this year.

After getting well beaten by Armagh and hammered by Dublin last summer and not forgetting well beaten by a weaken Galway in round 1 this year the time had come for change of tactics and Meath management have now chosen to go with defensive football a last roll of the dice some observers will say about "MOD" but we'll soon find out if that style of play brings improvement in results and with it even more confidence on Royaldunne posts. Well latter has probably peaked itself out already....

Ok ok we get it, we're cannon fodder for every team left in div2, I'm presuming you're expecting an easy win against us aswell yes?

A campaign can hinge on one game, really looking forward to Sunday as usual. The thing about this division is who really wants to win it? Look at Derry and Monaghan now in div. ! They will make the drop back down id say and Laois and Kildare will make space for them perhaps. Lots of football to be played.

I think promotion will be between Galway Roscommon Meath or down in that order Very little between these teams.
Westmeath are a decent outfit and will be hard beaten. Kildare laois and Cavan to battle to avoid the drop. Although Kildare should rally at some point.

Most teams in this division are pretty evenly matched. Big surprise for me so far is Kildare. Had fancied them for promotion, they simply have to win this weekend and hope everyone else continues to take points off each other. Can't see them getting relegated but stranger things have happened. On the face of it, Laois seem to be going steadily backwards for the last couple of years and barring a minor miracle seem destined for Div 3. Only Galway seem to have any long term promise and are a racing certainty for promotion. Take your pick from the rest to join them, all pretty mediocre. Simply an honest opinion so don't go getting upset.

Laois are almost dead certs for the drop. As for who'll be joining them, looks like one of Kildare, Meath and ourselves. Personally I think if we beat Kildare next week then its 4 games in a row that they've lost. Goodbye. And we should be safe on 5 points. Alternatively if we were to lose we're staring relegation right in the face. But I expect us to beat Meath who have an abysmal record against Ulster teams and they struggle with defensive teams and we're about as defensive as they come.

Interesting division.

Lads falling over themselves to write off Meath here. I wonder who's really stuck in the 90s.

Agreed. I don't understand what he has against us, RD must have been screwed over by a Rossie woman at some stage in his youth!

A lot of people seem to be writing Meath off here all right, FWIW I think if Laois lose to Ros this weekend, they're done and dusted. Kildare have a kick in them and I wouldn't write them off just yet despite their poor results so far. I fancied Westmeath to go down but I've been pleasantly surprised with their performances so far after an abysmal showing last year. I said at the start of the year I'd be happy with mid table for Roscommon and that's what I maintain. A win in Portlaoise on Sunday and a result up in Newbridge and I'll be ready to revisit that opinion. The loser of Meath v Cavan could be in bother.

Galway fans are very pleased with the early progress but we are not getting carried away. The Westmeath game could easily have gone the other way and I don't regard any of our remaining games as a sure win. I think any team in this division is capable of beating any other on their day and there will be a few twists and turns in the coming weeks. That said, hopes are high for promotion in the west. I'm glad to see Roscommon making steady progress too. They have had very good underage sides in recent years and are starting to reap the benefits at senior.

Did you read my post at all or completely missed the point i was making? i questioned where royaldunne confidence comes from and my post is proof their is very little difference between Meath and the other seven teams in this division.
