Frankie Dolan still has it

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

If you read my posts you'd see I waa talking about his inter-county career or lack of it. The opening post talks about him missing out on All Stars. Hardly gonna win All Stars playing for Brigids and not Roscommon is he?

Ease up there GreenandRed
He did play in an All-Ireland Junior final for Roscommon!

He was the best forward in the country in 2003. The points he kicked against us in Portlaois that day were ridiculous.

Agree Daith he should have won an all star that year, poor old green and red and Ban don't seem to understand that you don't need to play 10 years for your county to win an all star.

Ban an all Ireland junior title would be good for your county which has won so little.

Your very proud of your Frankie, and that's fair enough.. I guess when create a tread stating hes something of a National treasure, well your going to get a taste of what people outside of the County think. I for one think he's one hell of a talent and have always enjoyed watching him - but in my opinion he hasnt came close to realising his potential at the highest level.

All that aside - I want to see him do his thing against the Mayo Champions, purely because I think another match between Corofin and Brigids would be mouth watering and I'd be one of the first to head over to the Hyde to see it.

Ban i did not start this thread, just commented on it. It was a fairly innocent thread with the original poster talking about his performance in the county final not saying he is a national treasure, and i would defend any player been unfairly attacked as was the case on this thread from some posters.

To take your point up on Kildare and Offaly. I think you are wrong on that front. Both sides were on a downward trajectory at that stage. Offaly haven't come back. Kildare rose again. Frankie scored a heap against two poor sides that year.

So a few league semi finals and a junior final. How he hasn't wom POTY yet is beyond me

No one is attacking him Ros, he was a damn fine player. But his disciplinary record prevented him from having a longer inter county career where he would have surely won more and picked up a few all stars.

Frankie, great player, Dessie gets the nod though. I was at the game when Garrycastle beat Brigids a few years ago, Dessie definitely outshone his cousin.

Jay p there was still 6 or seven players still playing for Kildare in the 2008 quarter final 5 years later that were playing that day and the Kildare had beaten Meath in the semi final who had contested an All Ireland two years previously. Roscommon had men sent off in both those games against Kildare and Offaly. Declan Browne for beating Waterford and Carlow.

There are some players green and red who have been some of the best players over the last 10 or 15 years who have worst disciplinary records then Frankie, he fell out with led to the problem. He should have won an all star in 2003 but i would agree with you it is a pity he did not play longer and win more.

Frankie didn't fulfill his potential with Roscommon but still had a decent intercounty career scoring 7-76 in 24 championship games.

Well Rosfan as I explained to you why the bookies had the odds they had for Brigids, they have been proven right today.

No Harm in been beaten by Ballintubber. A super side. They could win it outright.

Didn't say there was, you were baffled at the odds of Brigids as opposed to Cratloe, the bookies were right.

Yes and I still am. Cratole will not win a munster club title. If they do then talk to me. Otherwise brigids losing today doesn't mean I was wrong.

Rosfan - you seem to think you know your club football fairly well

Just wondering why you think Cratloe will fail to win Munster?
