Should an exceptional talent be accommodated? Absolutely.

Fully agree. Most counties have a few veteran players on the team who don't do the same training as the younger lads and are only used for 20-30 mins in the second half. Is this any different? When Davy was in charge of Waterford he tailored training for certain veterans. Could he not do the same for Podge Collins? Of course he could.

Didn't Paul McGrath play professional sport with no training due to injuries for years. Sometimes you have to forget your ego and do whats best of the team/county. Having Podge there even for 20 mins or the final and semi would be worth it. I bet they would take him in Limerick if he was available.

As somebody said earlier, looking at last Sundays game. Davy obviously only wants lads concentrating on one game and as somebody who loves seeing dual players, I cant say I blame him. Theres no dual players on either team - the Kilkenny team for obvious reasons, but on the Tipp team there are plenty of good footballers, Noel McGrath, Bubbles O'Dywer and Seamus Callanan all play and would make the Tipp team and a few more teams around the country too. Liam McGrath captained Tipp to a minor football All Ireland in 2011, was with the footballers last year and is with the hurlers this year. I'd love to no did EOS tell him it was one or the other at the begining of this year. Colin O'Riordan is also training with the hurlers now after an impressive year with the footballers, it will be interesting to see does he go the dual route for next year, I very much doubt he'll be let.

Is Podge Collins a bit on the small side for inter county football?

Clare have been plotting something of an upward trajectory this year. Promotion to division 3. Giving Kerry a good game in the Munster semi-final. They gave Kildare a good game in Q3. Cratloe gave the Crokes a tough game in last year's Munster club final. The Collins' brothers opting for football. Limerick had hurlers opting for football a few years back and they weren't far away from a provincial title.

A 3rd "defector" Very strange. Clare arent Cork they arent going to compete at both codes so why give up the one where the chance of success is higher? The opposite of teh issue we have in Dublin!

Is all not well in the camp? Has Davy started to upset a few people? Heard a little rumour this week that he has upset the whole panel but not sure how much truth to that there is

McInerney has failed to nail down a spot on the starting 15 for the hurlers, likewise with Sean Collins - so its an easier decision to make for these lads..

Heard a story that Davy tried to humiliate the Cratloe boys at a training session for playing football the previous weekend, possibly a few months back during championship season but that would still rankle no doubt. Is a mass exodus on the cards?

I feel, but of course nobody can be certain, that there was an All Ireland in Limerick hurlers but for the dual player carry on around 2004.

Oldtourman same could be said for the footballers in 2004. If the dual players committed 100% to football there was at least a Munster title in them. Took Kerry to a replay in the Munster Final that year.

I heard that Davy was making the footballers train in a different location for most of the year - for the league games they had to carry the water bottles and the jerseys. During the championship games they had to drive the hurlers to the matches
Seemingly, the rest of the of the Clare hurlers are now planning a transfer to Limerick

As many as six hurlers took no part at all in Pat Joe's time. I agree both sides were probably affected. We were very near a Munster in 2004 and as late 2011 we gave Cork, eventual champs, a mighty rattle in Limerick

That was solely down to Pad Joe, he was the one who made the players choose, they were happy to play both as was the football manger. Limerick hurling was the loser and Clare hurling will be the loser over this ultimatum by Davy Fitz.
