Mayo full back line and the high ball

I thought the keeper got caught in two minds too- the flight of the ball gave him a chance to come and fist the ball away. To compound matters, he was then beaten on his near post...

I think the main weakness came from the sideline to be honest and not the full back line. Kerry needed a goal and Mayo could easily have conceded 3 points over the final 5 minutes and would still have been relatively comfortable. They should have dropped an extra player back to prevent Donaghy or any other player for that matter scoring a goal. As it turned out they very nearly lost the game and from such a comfortable position they would feel fortunate to get a replay.

But that's football, mistakes or lapses in concentration can be amplified with devastating consequences.

Kane is not the solution either - his 10 minutes on Murphy in 2012 didn't work out too well
