Monaghan mindset is right the majority of times.

Not happy with the weather. Not happy because it won't suit the team. It definitely won't suit big Tomas. It won't suit the supporters because only lower tiers are open. Doesn't suit me because I was given two premium level tickets and gave them to a fella from Meath so I could sit down with the family. Not happy!

The wet windy conditions should favour the more physical game Monaghan play, rather than Kildare's running style.

If there's a couple of changes to the Kildare team that was named then I might start to feel a bit more confident about this one.

McGrillen or Bolton or both brought in at the back, with Lyons moving back into the corner. A change in midfield would be nice but considering we were cleaned out in there against Clare and neither Lynch nor Flynn featured is a bit of a worry, Lynch was impressive when he came on against Down so if anybody comes in I'd be hopeful it's him. Up top if two from Mulhall, Brophy and Fogarty get the nod to start ahead of TOC and maybe Kelly it makes the forward line a bit more dangerous, we'll need players capable of winning their own ball and taking scores with little support around them.

The weather will probably favour Monaghan, but hopefully it stays a bit drier for the rest of the day.

Interesting to see some Monaghan fans mention the mentality and mindset of the team, in the same vein Darren Hughes' comments about how early on in the Ulster final he felt Donegal weren't going to be beat and again how if they don't start well tonight the game could be over after twenty minutes come across as a bit strange. Surely after winning a provincial title last year and promotion this year the teams mental strength or character shouldn't be an issue?

Both teams have to handle conditions so no advantage to either really.

I don't think the conditions will ssuit the likes of Kelly or McNally, I hear MGrillen may be on instead of O'Grady, I think.

Good shout by Ryan to have O'Connor start. Could never understand why McGeeney never really used him.

Having said that, I fancy Monaghan. I reckon it be close game and that if it is so that Kildare will have no great desire to face Dubs again.

Hurlingdub he used him a million times and most of the time it didn't work , more often than not Thomas O Conor has been poor for Kildare.

Thomas is brilliant at winning possession but needs runners in support to get the best out him. That rarely happens with Kildare and he gets blamed unfairly as a result. We actually have some decent forwards now who could profit from playing nearer to him but it didn't happen under McGeeney and doesn't happen too often with Ryan either.

I have lived in Kildare in my time at college and back home now in Monaghan and you would be surprised but it rains a lot more down here in Monaghan than it does up in Kildare. I know that sounds stupid but it is true and I think Monaghan will be alot more used to playing and training in the wet conditions.

Weather is dreadful Handball so perhaps excuses for how awful the two games are. Having said that, Kerry and Galway played a classic in similar conditions a few years ago.

Kildare should keep going for goals. Monaghan very soft down the middle even with 14 defenders.

Seriously what is the point in having a black card when stopping an opponent who is through on goal by fouling him does not constitute a black card?

Terrible decision.A great goal scoring opportunity for Monaghan ends up with a solitary point, and no Kildare man black carded. There seems to be a new cuteness to Kildares game.
