Have to fancy a monaghan win, as long as they refocus after the disappointing loss yesterday.. Kildare are very hot/cold this year but you wouldn't know what Kildare team will turn up..

I do not think Kildare are as good as in previous years and i would expect Malachy o Rourke will have them ready after the disapopintment of loosing yesterday, could see a backlash and a top class display from Monaghan after how poor we played yesterday. Im saying that in hope more than in confidence after yesterdays loss!!!

I'd give Kildare a chance in this.

Monaghan will go in as heavy favourites but imo Kildare should have no fear of them.

I guess it will be played as a double header with the other qualifier in Croker or a stand alone in Breffini

Monaghan should win this game.

While yesterdays defeat was a set back for Monaghan, It was a minor setback in the grand scale of things.

Against Louth we played well, against Meath we were poor, against Down we played well and against Clare we were poor.

Obviously too easy to suggest we'll play well against Monaghan but we can but hope.

On Saturday, and also in the Meath game there was an obvious lack of intensity and purpose to our play. Aimless balls into an outnumbered fullforward and an almost blanket refusal by a lot of players to even take on a shot once they inside the oppositions 45.

If we give McManus and Hughes the space and time on the ball we gave Clare then they could destroy us on their own.

The one saving grace though is the improvement in our fullback line over the last few weeks. Fitzpatrick and Lyons have really stepped it up from a man marking point of view so you'd imagine they'll be given the tasks of trying to keep two dangermen quiet.

We've been finishing games well so far this year, and haven't looked to tire during the last fifteen to twenty minutes like our opposition has, the worry though is that if Monaghan are in the driving seat in the second half they'll be happy to sit back a bit and will make it very hard for us to break them down and chip away at a lead.

I'd be surprised if Monaghan aren't strong favourites for this one really.

Monaghan will be strong favourites. Kildare's chance of winning will depend on the management putting the right team out and playing consistently well over 70 mins. If we perform as we did against Down then we have a chance. Monaghan have improved since we beat them in Croke Park at the same stage a few years ago. Kildare are rebuilding and are certainly not at the same level as we were then. My other fear is that Monaghan will out muscle us.

I think this could be the first upset. Kildare have the footballers to do it but will they product it on the day, Ryan seems to be struggling with understanding who his best players are - have to wonder about that, we have seen it now against Meath and Clare.

The fact that the game is in Croke Park is perfect for Monaghan. Although they won the league final they will want to get that championship win at headquarters and this should be the motivator after losing their Ulster Crown. Donegal didn't allow Monaghan to play yesterday but I don't think Kildare can cause them the same problem. A good start in this game and Monaghan can run out winners by 3 or 4 points.

I'd have no fear of Monaghan. We've an excellent record against them in the last few years. I also think they're achievements are a bit overblown. Look at any team they've beaten over the last couple of years and the subsequent form of their opponents would almost suggest the only result you could hang anything on would be Armagh this year. Every other team has crashed and burned immediately after.

Obviously midfield is a concern and the young players will need to stand up physically but our scope for improvement is much greater than Monaghan's in my opinion. We are more than capable of taking the win.

I agree with a lot of the other comments. Kildare have been finishing strongly in the last 15-20 minutes out scoring teams. This is a credit to their fitness levels. The problem is they give most teams a lead before they wake up. If they can stay in contention up until the last quarter then they will give anybody a game. Can Ryan figure out a way of doing this that is the question?
If I were him I would make them defend for three quarters of the game and then let them off the leash and see what happens.

Tir Conaill Abu, I don't know why the game being in Croke Park would be perfect for Monaghan. They have played just once there -correct me if I'm wrong - since Kildare beat them at the same stage in the qualifiers in 2010 while Kildare have played there around 10 or 12 times since.

Think we are well capable of winning this one. With the extra week, the boys should be able to get the donegal game out of their system. Also with winning ulster last year, sunday's defeat may not be as big a setback as in 2010.

Lily white it's because we would be able to use the game to put in a good performance and hopefully get to a quarter final after the ulster final loss, while at the same time getting rid of the statistic that we have never won a championship game in Croke Park.

I cant see anything other than a Monaghan win.

Looking forward to pitting our wits against them in the Quarter Final.

Monaghan only really have one class footballer from what I see but its one more than we have so Monaghan should be favourites. I'd like to see Monaghan for once try to express themselves and play good football which I'm sure they can but they just like to turn every game into an arm wrestle. Hard to watch.

In fairness we have a keeper and at least two defenders that would get on most teams. Is there a better corner back than Colin Walshe?
