Armagh vs Meath

Well formeer poster perhaps you are right judging by how meath played perhaps they didn't have game plan or tactics. And that is reason enough micko to be removed if he doesn't jump first.

Doublehop just to be clear on this point, I am in agreement with you that Meath and any other team left in the championship plan meticulously for all their games. In my opinion Meath (and Dublin's) most powerful tactic is their preparation. I think the argument I was making at that time was that Meath play with a lot more freedom than the Ulster teams and games Meath play in are generally a lot less tactical than a game featuring say Monaghan or Donegal.

Going back to Htaem's point above, he is suggesting that Meath had no tactics or gameplan. This is probably doing a disservice to the efforts the team put in preparing for the game. Again the reason Meath lost to Dublin was because so many players played poorly in my opinion. Not because of the management. There are so many Meath players who need to up their performance to even have a hope of beating Armagh.

Well that's a lie, I said we seem to be changing our tactics for every opponent instead of enforcing our own tactics on them, please don't make stuff up.

You're still attaching some negative connotation to the term 'tactics' which is somehow different from preparation. It's quite an old GAA mindset. This idea that we'd all be happy aimlessly ballooning the ball up and down the field with defenders just determined to keep their own marker scoreless if it wasn't for Ulster and their "tactics". Supporters who are from counties who enjoyed dominance prior to Armagh and Tyrone's emergence are partial to this kind of misty-eyed nostalgia but the game has moved on and so have Meath, Kerry, Dublin and everyone else.

Tricky game to call as is the other 4B game. It'll be interesting to see what the odds are.

This is a difficult game to call.... Meath aren't as bad as their last result ( scored a good goal and was penalised by P. Hughes) and Armagh although improving are no world beaters....
If either win - the season could be seen as a moderate sucess, if loose then the opposite, ( although Armagh are slowly going in the right direction....
People are surprised at the Armagh this yr, considering they were relagated but they suffered numerous injuries and suspensions - and were unlucky against Down ( last minute goal), well beaten in Galway and they did beat Meath...
Meath were the dominant team in the 1st half - could have scored 3-4-5 goals, but missed them, armagh grew and won,
Saturday will see which team has improved.. but i feel the big open spaces and that it is Croke Park will have an effect on the game- remember Meath have played here on many times....
Meath to shade it by 3 points

I have to say this is as unenthusiastic as I've been about a Meath game in a long time, partly because I know even if we do beat Armagh and I don't think we will, then it's Donegal and if by some miracle we got past them it's more than likely Dublin again = oh yay, that'll be fun.

I'll go to the Armagh game in hope but the fact of the matter is they hold all the aces here, Grimley knows a lot of these Meath players, McGeeney made a habit of beating us as Kildare manager, Armagh are on a bit of a roll at the minute and of course they've beaten us already this year in our own backyard. So I'm afraid to say another last round qualifier exit beckons for this Meath team, very frustrating but unavoidable.

Hey fingers crossed royaldunne, I think the pessimist in me is showing itself at the minute but I just want to see a bit of fight from our lads because some of them without mentioning any names threw in the towel very early against Dublin. Armagh will undoubtedly get stuck into us early on and may even start a scuffle to rattle our lads, I just hope they respond like the Meath teams of old instead of letting things get to them.

Armagh will beat Meath comfortably and go on to win SAM for the second time.

Royaldunne I really admire your positivity, do you ever feel that you are going to be beaten?

Hope Meath win. I don't like all this media ban crap that Armagh are engaging in, as if theyre the victim or something. Tyrone, fair enough,I couldn't blame Mickey Harte for his stance, but the armagh players (and cavans) embarrassed themselves, and the GAA, with their pre match antics, and now they play the victim.
Id like to see the GAA fine counties who don't engage with the media, certainly in cases like Armaghs when they don't really have a leg to stand on.
(Cue all sorts of accusations about being anti Ulster).

teams are entitled to do whatever they like in relation to media...the relationship between the bbc and somebody as big as alex ferguson is an example of this....its not as if the interviews are going to be anything special anyway

hard to call, all the best to both teams, look s Armagh, but hi Meath will not be a push over, and will be out to prove they are better than their last game against Dublin.

Onthewhiteside the only time Royaldunne does not feel confident of a royals victory is when they are playing Louth.

Meath win for me.The boring reason that inevitably after suffering a hiding,a team will mostly rise to the occassion in trying to redeem themseves, and thus banishing the embarrasing defeat out of their systems.Doesnt always work out like that and Armagh have the orange Messi but ill go for a narrow Royal victory.

I see it as armaghs to throw away. Hope I'm wrong but unless the players ignore micko and do their own thing I think its us who is in for the long day. Hope I'm wrong.
