Wayne you got it wrong. You didn't know the facts and more or less implicated a lad who wasn't involved. Well done. daytona11 (Kildare) - Posts: 4012 - 23/01/2014 12:57:48 1535597 Link 0 |

No place in Gaa for this, disgusting behaviour from Jason who is genuinely a nice guy but let himself and everyone in Dublin Gaa down the 8 week suspension is a joke it should be a year at least. But can we move on now or do we go on about it for another month like what's done is done nothing more anyone can do or say now. clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 23/01/2014 13:07:41 1535606 Link 0 |

An 8 week ban does seem very soft for this sort of offence and the CCCC has possibly made a rod for their back for the coming season by their leniency. Having said that the player and Dublin have accepted the ban and that should be that for particular case. Jason Whelan will have some time to contemplate his stupidity and reflect on his actions and if he learns and wises up he can move on; he shouldn't be castigated, ostracised or punished forever and a day and should be considered for selection again after he serves his ban; everyone deserves a second chance. Biting is like spitting, it is totally contemptable and I don't care who or what county does it; it should be stamped out now and the message sent out that this is completely unacceptable. It shows the most most utter disrespect for your opponent and is sewer like behaviour. Furthermore Jim Gavin, the Dublin county board and many Dublin fans should now show some humility and stop digging that big hole they are in. This is the THIRD biting allegation involving Dublin in a few years and this head in the sand stance from the Dubs and their followers is just contemptuos arrogance of the worst kind and a shameful dismissiveness of other peoples views. This is NOT anti-Dublin but they should stop treating others like fools believing they are above the disciplinary process. Jim Gavin in particular has to stop pushing this nonsense that his players are not cynical, are whiter than white on the pitch playing football of the Gods and behaving like angels; it is hogwash and just insults our intelligence. It is this 3 monkeys stance of Hear No Evil, Speak On Evil and See No Evil from Dublin about Dublin that annoys people more than anything. Young Whelan has a few hard months ahead his punishment does not fit his crime however, what he done which we all agree is very disturbing I will be very shocked if galvin does not drop him from the panel even if it's just for this season, I also hope the young donegal player regrets not coming out and saying what happened last year because everybody knew he got bit and worse by a different player it was his duty to report this as we all don't want a repeat of this. The media have also being a disgrace here Sean cavenagh last year dragged a man to the ground to help his team win a match but the way the media behaved was shocking towards him I don't really want to be talking about this bite in a couple of months time but certain papers and radio shows seem to be brushing this under the carpet. knowtherules (UK) - Posts: 181 - 23/01/2014 14:37:34 1535667 Link 0 |

Seany, that link you just posted states that the lad got 20 weeks as opposed to 8... Surely you are only underlining what ulsterman has just said with that post! TheMaster (Mayo) - Posts: 16187 - 23/01/2014 15:09:49 1535701 Link 0 |
