I would imagine the stand alone holds over 4,000 and every seat was taken. Must have been a lot of U16's!!!!

The last time I saw Parnell as full was for Vinnies/Kickhams and that was officially 10,000! I doubt that half the crowd were admitted free.

"Like all of the teams who had lost their opening game, Dublin - whose setback in Galway had been especially embarrassing - responded impressively to overcome the All-Ireland champions in a match they led from gun to tape before a crowd of 4,312 at Parnell Park."

that was in the irish times today and on hill16.ie it says approx 5 thousand

The official attendance for paying patrons in Nowlan Park yesterday was 8600. Great crowd seeing as U14's aren't counted for league games.

under 14's are counted
everybody who goes through the stiles are counted as they click regardless of tickets

hill16no1man they only count paying customers and it's not just the Dubs that get under estimations they do this everywhere. The hurling league attendances are looking great this year and I'd imagine will improve given how good the league is going once again. The "6 nation" format is great!

Limericks attendance is shocking considering there were about 40k limerick fans for the semi in croker last year.

To be fair to Limerick supporters, it would have been easy enough to predict that result and many people did not bother turning up to watch it. Limerick v Antrim still had the highest attendance for 1B fixtures last weekend.

If that was Tipp, Clare or KK it would be 10-15 k.

The lure of Antrim is just not enticing to the average punter.

Blame the GAA and the current set up.

If they just split the groups you would see a better split among the counties.

40k in Croker yep and there will be 15-20k in Thurles, Limerick do travel when it matters.

they count everybody who goes through the stiles regardless of paying in or not
as once you walk through the stiles the turnstile clicks and the counter adds it up.
I never said anything about under estimations and I know they give strange attendances evrywhere.
Thught it was a very poor crowd in nolan park for kk v tipp and if 4thousand is correct for parnell on sunday would be poor enough too
throw in the meer 1 thousand in the gaelic grounds for limerick and I wouldnt say the hurling attendances so far have been as good as last year. when you consider that the standard has levelled off considerably and the exciting championship last summer
you would have expected bigger gates for the league in all the top countys.

Speaking to a meath official at navan a while back he said they only announce the paying customers in the attendance now. They do keep track of everyone for the GAA's records though.

Why are 1B attendances so bad in hurling? Division 3 football would do a lot better at times.
