Why wouldnt ye have as many supporters as us in LK last year although I sincerely doubt that ye had, as you have 2.5 times the population of Limerick and what would be a huge follower base with the game of hurling easily the most popular game in Cork.

Was in Thurles yesterday, great atmosphere but 28,660 must be a disappointing crowd for such a game. 10 / 15 years ago first round games were attracting full houses and doing so when the teams involved may not even have had serious All Ireland ambitions.

Yesterdays game could not have had a better billing. 2 AI contenders, last years no 1 and 2 teams in the country, the history of last years final, the Nash rule, JBM, Davey, Loughnanes Sunday Game comments ...

I was expecting around the 40,000 mark. Of the crowd that were there I'd say it was split 18k Cork and 10k Clare.

Clare don't travel in massive numbers, it is as simple as that. You would have had 35k+ if it was Limerick.

Limerick and Cork population are 2 and 4 times that of Clare respectfully. The first round games 15 years ago were knockout games and that said we are still in the championship today.

Not a slight Zulu just facts. Personally think ye travel well for ye're population as opposed to the sunshine boys of Port Lairge.

Fair point ZUL10. The fact it's not knock out definitely has a big effect and yeah as a ratio of population that probably wasn't a bad Clare crowd. I just thought with the county on such a hurling high and it being a repeat of last years cracking AI finals they would bring twice that number. After their AI wins in the 90's the Clare following was huge, last years win does't seem to have inflated the crowd much.

Similarly with the Cork crowd, there wasn't many more Cork people there than there were at the Waterford replay and this was a vastly more attractive game when all factors are considered. I thought it would have brought a few more of our bandwagon out of the wood work!

In fairness the GAA don't advertise the big games much. If you want the event junkies to go you need to make them want to go. The fixture was up a lot on last years munster semi so that at least is a positive.

Hill what do you reckon will go to the leinster semi's this year, Up on last year surely yeah?

4,192 at Cork Tipp (Very poor but expected)
5,938 at Clare v Kerry (Good crowd from Clare)
11,795 at Donegal v Antrim (People stayed away because they new it would be a foregone conclusion. Expect a massive crowd in Clones next week though)
12,548 at Kilkenny V Galway (Looked a bigger crowd on tv but that is a very bad crowd, should be closer to 20,000 now next week)
Have no qualifier attendances.....

It was about 90% Donegal fans in Clones yesterday. Antrim were very poorly supported.

Sligo v Galway, Markievicz Park - 8,215
Derry Longford, Celtic Park - 2,000

Not a bumper weekend for crowds, Portlaoise looked empty as did the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick and I doubt there was too many at Wicklow v Offaly

Was in Markievicz and it was announced as 10215 which would be about right. Small small Galway support and alright from Sligo as the result was along expected lines.

was in markievicz for sligo galway. atmosphere was flat. sligo had more support around 55 45 breakdown from where i was sitting. marginal galway fan slow to warm to the footballers but now progress is being made expect a much bigger galway support at the final.

12,000 at Galway-Kilkenny. O'Connor Park holds a supposed 20,000. I was at the game and I struggle to see how you'd fit another 8,000 in there. Thought there was great crowd at the game and a lively atmosphere.

The Ulster Championship Matches look well attended but all U16s enter free and if you come on a coach you get in free then the crowds are disappointing. Is the entry conditions the same in other provinces?

Probably be around 60,000 at the Croke Park double header this weekend. Then again with both games live on RTE it might be nearer to 50,000

12k in Tullamore. If that figure is accurate and counts the u16's I struggle to see how it will cope with the extra people for the replay. I'd expect a 5k increase and really can't see where they will go.
