Yeah was thinking that as well that cork had nearly all the crowd last week but yet yesterday every 5 mins rte guys would mention there's a huge limerick crowd , it seems to be their buzz words when limerick play

Limerick travel in huge numbers for the hurling, get over it, circa 12k in Thurles yesterday.

You would expect more Cork people to be at every championship hurling which is easily their chief sport considering they have 2,5 times the population Limerick have. However Cork people do not tend to follow first round games much preferring to 'wait for the final', except when playing Tipp. However the days of automatic qualification for the said final, except when playing Tipp, are long gone

Yeah Limerick have great hurling support considering their lack of success. That Limerick v Tipp football match is the equivalent of Antrim v Fermanagh in Ulster and it got 4 times the attendance. Ulster football is very well supported.

That's true ah sure. Every county lives a good band wagon, unfortunately Galway can't even seem to get that when going well. Limerick have a consistent fan base that travel and the other 15k will jump on board now. If we play Clare it will be 30k + Limerick fans, Cork split crowd and Waterford might travel if they make it. Be interesting to see what they bring to the replay.

I was in Portlaoise for a draw and the replay in the Leinster Championshio with Offaly and Galway a few years ago and the crowd was appallingly small on both occasions and seemed to be mostly Offaly supporters.Ye do very poor bandwagons in Galway.

I don't know how you can call Cork hurling supporters bad. We had as many as ye at Munster final last year in Limerick and we brought 40,000 to Croke Park for Cork Dublin last year. Limerick v Tipp munster semi final is a bigger game then Cork Waterford quarter final which cork were expected to win handy. Also Semple Is closer to Limerick. We will bring another big crowd Sunday and hopefully again against Clare..... ;)

Luke i would say ye were lucky to have 15k in the GG last year, maybe 18k at a stretch. There was 28-30k Limerick fans. Cork have a good support but listening to reports Limerick outnumbered Tipp on Sunday. Says it all of our support.

Secondly Thurles needs to be looked at for matches, a complete kip, the ground is below the standards required for modern sport.

http://balls.ie/gaa/gaa-attendances-ranked-top-sports-around-world/. Interesting piece there.
I expect big attendances this weekend surely Mayo Roscommon will bring close to 20,000 and I think Cork Waterford will bring the same. Nowlan park should draw 15,000 plus and Croker would be disappointed with less then 35,000. If there is less then 35,000 in Croker Sunday I think it's a big opportunity lost for the GAA to bring the game to Portlaois and fill another stadium with the Kildare game...

Lads fighting over which county has a bigger following is very funny. A bit like 2 fellas arguing over who has a bigger ........

You can be as big as you like but if you can't use it you'll get nowhere.

Same way if your team can't put the ball over the bar or into the net you can have a million people there supporting ye but ye will still be useless!!
